Islamabad seminar pledges full support to Kashmir cause

Islamabad, August 27 (KMS): Speakers at a seminar held in Islamabad, today, expressed complete solidarity with the oppressed people of occupied Kashmir who are suffering immensely due to continued curfew and other restrictions imposed by the Indian authorities.

Occupied Kashmir is under strict clampdown since August 05, 2019, when Narendra Modi-led Indian government announced repeal of Article 370 of the Indian Constitution that granted special status to the territory.

The speakers of the seminar organized under the auspices of prominent organizations representing the Shia community of Pakistan said that extending support to the people of occupied Kashmir was the national and religious obligation of every Pakistani and Muslim. “It is an Islamic and national duty to support the noble and holy struggle of liberating occupied Kashmir and annexing it with the Islamic Republic of Pakistan and that we as human beings, as Muslims and as Pakistanis can’t ignore it. We strongly urge all people of Pakistan as well as all national institutions, especially the armed forces to play a decisive role in the Kashmiris’ holy struggle aimed at freeing their homeland from Indian clutches and join Pakistan,” they said.

The speakers said that unity among the Muslim Ummah was essential for the liberation of Jammu and Kashmir from the Indian occupation and Pakistan had a vital role to play in this regard. They said that they stand by the Kashmiris in their just struggle for freedom and would not rest till Jammu and Kashmir achieved complete freedom from the Indian occupation.

The speakers included Chairman of Kashmir Committee, Syed Fakhar Imam, Allama Iftikhar Hussain Naqvi, Syed Nasir Shirazi and Allama Ameen Shaheedi. It was attended by a large number of scholars, ullema, national and regional organizations and personalities and civil society members who represent the Shia community of Pakistan.

A declaration unanimously adopted at the end of the seminar pledge to lend every support to the Kashmiri Muslims in their just freedom struggle. It appealed to all Muslims, particularly the Government of Pakistan, to assist the Kashmiri people who are fighting the holy war of freedom. It asked the Government of Pakistan to be more active at the diplomatic level and persuade brotherly Islamic and other friendly countries to support the ongoing freedom struggle in Kashmir.

The declaration expressed concern over the silence of the international institutions and countries on the grim situation of occupied Kashmir and urged them to raise voice in support of the oppressed Kashmiri people and fulfill their moral obligation in redeeming their right to self-determination. It thanked to the global institutions, countries and individuals who raised their voice for the Kashmiri people.
