Geneva, September 09 (KMS): Kashmiri Hurriyat leader, Mr Altaf Wani has urged the United Nations, the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights and the members of UN Human Rights Council to appoint Commission of Inquiry to investigate the human rights violations by Indian troops in occupied Kashmir.

Mr Altaf Wani talking to the media in Geneve, today, said, Kashmir is under occupation of India for the last 72 years and from the last 36 days there is total communication lockdown of the occupied  territory. He said, the people of Kashmir have no access to the rest of the world and are not allowed to move out.

He pointed out that Kashmiris living outside the territory had no access to their parents and children. He said, the people of Kashmir want an end of communication blockade and curfew in occupied Kashmir. He maintained, Kashmirs also want end of Indian occupation in Kashmir and demand the right to self-determination.

Mr Altaf Wani criticized the Indian government for repealing the special status of Kashmir by scraping Article 370 of Its Constitution on August 05, which was violation of the UN Security Council resolutions.

He also praised the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Michelle Bachelet, for expressing concern over the actions by New Delhi in Kashmir while addressing the 42nd session of the UN Human Rights Council meeting in Geneva.
