Situation in IOK is extremely grim: Bilal Siddiqi » Kashmir Media Service

Islamabad, September 18 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, APHC leader and the Chairman of Tehreek-e-Muzahamat, Bilal Siddiqi, has said that situation in the occupied territory is extremely grim and people are not safe even in their houses.

In an exclusive interview with Kashmir Media Service, today, Bilal Siddiqi said that the people were facing immense hardships due to strict restrictions imposed by the Indian authorities since August 5. He said that the people are scared to venture out of their houses and move about as there is no surety that they would be able to return home.

Bilal Siddiqi said that the people of occupied Kashmir had been engaged in prolonged mass uprisings in 2008, 2010 and 2016. However, he added, this time around they are not being allowed to hold big demonstrations to express their resentment and whenever they are able to assemble they are subjected to pellet firing. He said that mass arrests, suspension of communications links and detention of Hurriyat leadership are also making it difficult for the people to stage forceful demonstrations.

The APHC leader appreciated the role being played by Pakistan in highlighting the miseries of the people of occupied Kashmir at the international level. He said, the recent Indian actions are nothing short of military oppression and Pakistan will have to move towards practical steps to save the Kashmiris from Indian brutalities.
