Islamabad, October 11 (KMS): The All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir (APHC-AJK) chapter held a protest demonstration outside the UN Office in Islamabad, today, against the continued lockdown and communication blockade imposed by India in occupied Kashmir.

Hurriyat leaders addressing on the occasion expressed serious concern over the continued grave situation in the territory. They said that India was facing continuous criticism at the international level for imposing siege and communication blackout in the territory.

They said that Indian forces’ personnel were barging into the residential houses and arresting youth besides damaging household goods and torturing inmates including women.

The speakers also described the August 5 actions of the Indian government to repeal Kashmir’s special status as illegal, unconstitutional and against the international laws and the UN resolutions on Kashmir.

They appealed Pakistan to demand convening of another meeting of the UN Security Council so that it could play role in ending the military siege, removing curbs on media and restoring movement of the Kashmiri people.

They said that, on one side, the Indian government had been suppressing the Kashmiris’ indigenous liberation movement through use of brute force for the past several decades and, on the other, conspiring to change the demography of the territory. They added that India would never succeed in its nefarious designs and the Kashmiris would take their liberation movement to its logical conclusion at all costs.

The Hurriyat leaders on the occasion also appealed the world community to immediately intervene and help end lockdown and military occupation in the territory.
