Arrest of Seerat Committee Kishtwar Chairman condemned

Islamabad, November 15 (KMS): The Convener of Jammu and Kashmir Seerat Committee, Kishtwar, Khawaja Nayeem-ul-Hassan, has strongly condemned the arrest of the Chairman of the Committee, Maulana Abdul Qayoom, by Indian troops, last week.

Indian troops arrested Maulana Qayoom along with his associate, Naseer Ahmed Baghwan, from Kishtwar town on November 9. The troops also arrested another person identified as Shabbir Hussain in the town.

Khawaja Nayeem-ul-Hassan in a statement issued in Islamabad said that India would not be able to suppress the voice of the people of occupied Kashmir through arrests and other cheap tactics. He also denounced the ban on worship in Dargah Hazratbal and gatherings on the occasion of Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH). He said that the real face of the so-called secular India had been exposed during the regime of RSS and BJP under which the minorities in India were not safe.

The Convener said that the people of Kashmir had no contact with the rest of the world since August 5 when the Modi-led Indian communal government repealed Kashmir’s special status and imposed lockdown and communications blockade in the territory.

He said that the sacrifices of Kashmiri martyrs would not go waste and the day was not far away when the people of Kashmir would get rid of Indian bondages. He also demanded release of all illegally detained Hurriyat leaders and activists languishing in different jails of India and the occupied territory.
