Srinagar, January 05 (KMS): The Chairman of All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC), Syed Ali Gilani, while commenting on the resolution passed on 5th January 1949 regarding the Kashmiri people’s right to choose their fate, has said that despite facing unprecedented levels of oppression the people of occupied Kashmir are sacrificing their lives to end the decades long India’s illegal hold of their territory.

In a statement issued in Srinagar, today, Syed Ali Gilani said that the Right to Self Determination Day is being observed by the people of Jammu and Kashmir on the both sides of the ceasefire line as a reminder to the international community including the United Nations of its commitment to provide Kashmiris their basic right. »

UN resolutions legitimize freedom struggle: APHC

Srinagar, January 05 (KMS): Kashmiris on both sides of the Line of Control and the world over observed the Right to Self-Determination Day, today, with the pledge that they would continue the struggle for settlement of the Kashmir dispute through a free and fair plebiscite under the auspices of the United Nations.

It was on this day in 1949 when the United Nations Security Council passed a resolution supporting the Kashmiris’ right to decide their future by themselves through UN-sponsored plebiscite. The day was marked by various activities including rallies, seminars and conferences in Azad Kashmir, Pakistan and across the world to remind the UN to save the Kashmiris from the Indian brutalities by implementing its resolutions on Kashmir.

The All Parties Hurriyat Conference in a statement issued in Srinagar said that the resolutions passed by the United Nations Security Council on Jammu and Kashmir legitimize the struggle of the Kashmiri people to achieve their right to self-determination. The statement said that these resolutions are testimony to the fact that the Indian occupation of Jammu and Kashmir was unjustified, illegal and against all norms and standards of the international law. »

Srinagar, January 05 (KMS): The forum led by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq while expressing concern over the continuing human rights violations in occupied Kashmir particularly since August 5, 2019, has said that the Kashmiri people have been deprived of all basic rights at gunpoint.

Hurriyat forum in a statement issued in Srinagar, today, appealed to the international community to take serious notice of the deteriorating situation in the occupied territory and take measures to prevent India from continuing policies of suppression against the Kashmiri people so that people of Kashmir could be given the right live with honour and dignity. »

Islamabad, January 05 (KMS): The Jammu and Kashmir Council for Human Rights (JKCHR) has said that Kashmir dispute has been duly described by the UN Security Council as “the greatest and the gravest single issue in international affairs” and that its resolution demanded, expedition, urgency and immediacy.

JKCHR President Dr. Syed Nazir Gilani in a statement issued in Islamabad said that the Government of India had surrendered itself at the UN Security Council for a UN-supervised vote.

He said that India could not succeed in holding the people of Kashmir against their will by the use of brute force. India and Pakistan shall have to return to Resolutions of 13th August 1948 and 5th January 1949, because these two resolutions have won the express agreement of both India and Pakistan, he added. »

Islamabad, Jan 05 (KMS): A protest demonstration, organized by APHC-AJK chapter, was held outside the Indian High Commission in Islamabad, today, to mark the Right to Self-Determination Day.

It was on 5th January in 1949 when the United Nations Security Council passed a resolution supporting the Kashmiris’ right to decide their future by themselves through UN-sponsored plebiscite.

The Hurriyat leaders addressing the protest demonstration highlighted the importance of the UN Security Council Kashmir resolution passed on January 5, 1949, saying that the resolution provides the basis for the Kashmiris’ struggle. He said that Kashmiris’ right to self-determination had been recognized in the resolution and the Indian denial had increased tension in the region. »

Islamabad, January 05 (KMS): The Vice Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Mass Movement, Abdul Majeed Mir, Democratic Political Movement Vice Chairman, Advocate Pervez Ahmad Shah and Peoples League Vice Chairman, Syed Aijaz Rehmani, have asked the United Nations to implement its resolutions on Kashmir.

Abdul Majeed Mir in a statement issued in Islamabad said that India had failed to implement the UN resolutions on Kashmir despite passage of over seven decades. In connection with the UN Security Council’s 5th January 1949 resolution, which supported the Kashmiris’ right to self-determination, he appealed to the UN to settle the lingering Kashmir dispute in accordance with the aspirations of the Kashmiri people. »

Jammu, January 05 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, Indian police registered a case against 10 youth under black law, Unlawful Activities [Prevention] Act, at Dachan police station in Kishtwar district and arrested two of them during raids on their houses.

The police booked the youth on the fake charge of being Over Ground Workers (OGWs) of a mujahid commander, Mohammad Amin alias Jehangir Saroori, who, according to the police, has been active in Kishtwar district for the past three decades. »

Rawalpindi, January 05 (KMS): The President of Jammu and Kashmir Council for Human Rights, Dr Nazir Gilani, has said that the sacrifices of the people of Jammu for the Kashmir cause cannot be forgotten.

Dr Nazir Gilani speaking to a representative delegation of Jammu, based in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, who met him at his residence in Rawalpindi, said that Kashmir was incomplete without Jammu. He said that Jammu and Kashmir Council for Human Rights was not an organization of any particular region but it represented the entire Jammu and Kashmir. »
