Stage sit-in in Srinagar against continued gag on media

Srinagar, January 07 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Indian government has deliberately muzzled the press to control the flow of information and the gag has adversely affected the ground reporting and newsgathering operations was the crux of the meeting of almost all journalist organizations, held at Kashmir Press Club in Srinagar.

The interactive session with focus on the unabated internet suspension since August 5 when India unilaterally announced to abrogate Kashmir’s special status was attended by Kashmir Press Club, Kashmir Editors Guild, Editors Forum, Kashmir Union of Working Journalists, Kashmir Working Journalists Association, Kashmir Press Photographers Association, Kashmir Journalists Association, Kashmir Video Journalists Association, Kashmir News Television Journalists Association, Journalists Federation of Kashmir and Anjuman-e-Urdu Sahafat. »

Srinagar, January 07 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, Indian troops have launched cordon and search operations in Samba and Rajouri districts of Jammu region and the Kashmir valley.

The troops have been put on highest alert after they found a parcel improvised explosive device (IED) at the gate of Border Security Force’s 173 battalion headquarters in the Panj Tila area of Samba, Indian official sources claimed.

After the incident the Indian forces have been put on high alert at all important installations and in Jammu, Samba and Kathua districts. »

New Delhi, Jan 07 (KMS): The Indian government had claimed to make Kashmir like the rest of India but has ended up doing otherwise, former Union Minister Yashwant Sinha said, as he hit out New Delhi over what he called its policy of “suppression”.
Mr Sinha, who had quit the BJP after being sidelined in the party he served for more than two decades, spoke at a protest against the Citizenship Act outside Jamia University.
He said that the attack on JNU students and teachers on Sunday had erased the difference between “government goons and government police”, accusing cops of “helping” the anti-social elements and not the innocent. »

Islamabad, Jan 07 (KMS): The Foreign Office (FO) urged the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government to protect its minorities from “saffron terror” while rejecting Indian propaganda regarding the treatment of minorities in Pakistan.
In a strongly-worded statement, the FO said: “The RSS-inspired BJP government has absolutely no credentials even to pretend that it is a protector of minorities.”
“Those who are responsible for the desecration and demolition of the Babri mosque, massive killings of thousands of Muslims in Gujarat, frequent incidents of mob lynching, and repeated hate crimes against minorities, simply have no feet to stand on. »

New Delhi, Jan 07 (KMS): Amid the ongoing protest against the violence at New Delhi’s Jawaharlal Nehru University, a poster with an open anti-India message ‘Free Kashmir’ was seen at the Gateway of India.
Thousands of protesters converged at the Gateway of India to condemn the violence at JNU, international media reported. While several of them shouted slogans, some others were seen making posters at the site to vent their anger over the incident.
This particular poster at the site evoked strong reactions on social media platforms. The agitation has found widespread support in the city. »
