Geneva, March 02 (KMS): Indian delegation faced major embarrassment at its event in Geneva when a Kashmiri activist sought comment from pro-Modi politician, MJ Akbar on remarks that it was safer to be a cow than a Muslim in India.

A well known Kashmiri activist, Hasan Bana asked MJ Akbar: “One of your colleagues, Mr Shashi Tharoor has said that it is safer to be a cow than a Muslim in India.” »

Srinagar, March 02 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, months have passed since the parents of illegally detained Kashmiri youth, languishing in jails outside the Kashmir valley, saw them, last time.

28-year-old scholar, Fayaz Ahmed Meer, was arrested from his residence in Pulwama district in August, last year, and was shifted to the Baraily jail in India. He has in fact met his father Abdul Rasheed just once, in October, 2019, after the latter managed to make a trip to the UP with money borrowed from relatives. But Rasheed can recount little of the conversation, for it was in Hindi, a language he has difficulty following. The two weren’t allowed to speak in Kashmiri by jail authorities. Since then, the parents face the daunting task of collecting money visit their son again in UP. »

The name was changed through a resolution moved by the BJP-led Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) in the general house on Sunday. »

Media outlets asked not to cover atrocities

Srinagar, March 02 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, Indian troops arrested several Kashmiri youth during crackdown operations and house raids in different areas of the territory.

Around half a dozen youth including Fayaz Ahmed Butt, Muzamil Nabi, Umar Ajaz, Rauf Ahamd and Ishfaq Ahmad were arrested in Srinagar, Badgam, Ganderbal and Bandipore districts. The occupational forces have created an atmosphere of fear and harassment through the ongoing cordon and search operations in Kupwara, Baramulla, Islamabad, Pulwama, Shopian, Kulgam, Ramban, Kishtwar, Doda, Rajouri and Poonch districts.

Ironically, it is very difficult to ascertain the actual scale of violence against the Kashmiris during the Indian forces’ operations because of the ongoing military siege and Internet gag, which entered 211th consecutive day, today. Also, the Indian authorities have strictly ordered media outlets and journalists in occupied Kashmir to avoid covering any human rights violations and publishing statements of the Hurriyat leadership. »

Authorities create atmosphere of fear , harassment

Srinagar, March 02 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, Indian police arrested several Kashmiri youth in different areas of the territory.

Indian police during crackdown operations and house raids arrested around half a dozen youth including Fayaz Ahmed Butt, Muzamil Nabi, Umer Ajaz, Rauf Ahamd and Ishfaq Ahmad in Srinagar, Budgam, Ganderbal and Bandipore areas.

On the other hand, the cordon and search operations ongoing in different areas of Srinagar,Badgam, Ganderbal, Kupwara, Baramulla, Bandipore, Islamabad, Pulwama, Shopian, Kulgam, Ramban, Kishtwar, Doda, Rajouri and Poonch districts have created an atmosphere of fear and harassment halting the daily life in these areas. »

Jammu, March 02 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, Patron of Jammu and Kashmir National Panthers Party, Professor Bhim Singh has demanded restoration of the status of Jammu and Kashmir as well as the Domicile Laws including the status of a resident as introduced by Maharaja Hari Singh in 1927.

While addressing JKNPP Delegates Session in Jamm, Bhim Singh also demanded that all the political detainees need to be released as they have been under illegal and unconstitutional detentions under the so-called Public Safety Act. “The bureaucracy rule in Jammu & Kashmir is not acceptable…”, he said. »

Kolkata, March 02 (KMS): Indian Home Minister Amit while referring to unrelenting protests by Muslims against the controversial citizenship laws has asked Indian security forces to instill fear among the people [Muslims] who “want to divide the nation and stop its peace”.

Amit Shah’s remarks come in the backdrop of anti-Muslim riots in Delhi, which claimed 43 lives, mostly of Muslims, earlier this week.

“Now, after Modi-ji became the Prime Minister, we have developed a proactive defence policy segregated from the foreign policy,” he said, adding that India has now joined the league of countries like the US and Israel in carrying out surgical strikes. »

Islamabad, March 02 (KMS): President, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Masood Khan on Sunday said that it was not only for the Government but every person in Pakistan and in AJK must play their very active role and contribution for Kashmir cause as people there were struggle for their right of self-determination and for liberty from Indian aggression.

“We should not be looking to governments only or criticize them on Kashmir cause But, we as a whole society must add to the Kashmiris’ struggle by promoting awareness and by extending maximum moral and political support,” he emphasized while speaking at a seminar titled “State Terrorism, Kashmir and World Peace” here at Arts Council of Pakistan. »

New Delhi, March 02 (KMS): Indian Supreme Court has refused to refer to a larger bench a batch of pleas challenging the constitutional validity of India’ unilateral decision of 5th August 2019 of abrogating Article 370 of the Indian constitution, which granted special status to occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

These cases were filed in the Supreme Court following the Narendra Modi government’s move to abrogate Article 370 and scrap the special status of Jammu and Kashmir on August 5, last year. »
