Srinagar, March 19 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir,the Chairman of All Parties Hurriyat Conference, Syed Ali Gilani while expressing concern over the announcement by Muhammad Yasin Malik to go on hunger strike till death has warned India that if anything happened to JKLF Chairman, New Delhi would be responsible for it.

The APHC Chairman in a statement issued in Srinagar, today, said that India was plotting to send Muhammad Yasin Malik to the gallows and urged international institutions, human rights organizations and particularly the United Nations to take notice of the ordeal of illegally detained JKLF Chairman and play their role for the restoration of his rights. »

Says cases against him politically motivated

Srinagar, March 19 (KMS): The illegally detained Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front, Muhammad Yasin Malik has announced to go on ‘a fast until death’ from 1st April 2020 against the authoritarian attitude of India.

Muhammad Yasin Malik in a statement released by his family in Srinagar, today, said that the Indian government had made a pledge with him that he would be provided with a genuine political space and efforts would be made for the resolution of the Kashmir dispute through a meaningful dialogue process. However, he added that India had reneged from this pledge. Muhammad Yasin Malik pointed out that besides Indian officials, many international diplomats were also on board for pursuing the idea behind the pledge. »

Srinagar, March 19 (KMS): Press freedom in Indian occupied Kashmir is “under a serious threat from security forces”, the International Press Institute (IPI) has said in a report.
Raising concerns about the conditions of journalists in the disputed Muslim-majority region, the global media watchdog urged India’s Hindu nationalist government to end restrictions and harassment of journalists placed following revocation of the region’s special status last August.
“Journalism in occupied Kashmir is under a dramatic state of repression,” Ravi R Prasad, director of advocacy at the Vienna-based IPI, said in a statement.
“The state is using a mix of harassment, intimidation, surveillance and online information control to silence critical voices and force journalists to resort to self-censorship.” »

New Delhi, March 19 (KMS): The Amnesty International has said that India must restore full access to internet services in occupied Kashmir and ensure that people have full access to health and safety-related information in the wake of Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic

Amnesty International India in a statement issued in New Delhi, today, said, despite the rising number of cases, the IOK authorities recently ordered for the continued restrictions on full internet services such as restricting the speed to 2G in the territory. Srinagar, March 19 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, Grand Mufti, Nasir-ul-Islam has urged the authorities to release Kashmiri political detainees lodged in various jails of India and the territory.

Mufti Nasir-ul-Islam in a statement issued in Srinagar said that the authorities should understand the emergency situation regarding the coronavirus and they should immediately shift prisoners with small offences to their homes. “Srinagar, Central Jail is most vulnerable to coronavirus”, he added.

Mufti Nasir-ul-Islam also said that he had called all religious leaders on Saturday to discuss the prevailing situation amid coronavirus threat in the Valley. »
