IOK hospitals ill-equipped to fight corona

Srinagar, March 23 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of All Parties Hurriyat Conference, Syed Ali Gilani and other Hurriyat leaders and organizations have felicitated the people and the Government of Pakistan on the occasion of Pakistan Day, today, and have prayed for a strong, prosperous, stable and safe Pakistan.

Syed Ali Gilani in a statement issued in Srinagar greeted the people and the government of Pakistan and said that Pakistan was the centre of hope for the oppressed Kashmiri people as well as the Muslim Ummah and this country was a great blessing for the Muslims.

He said that Pakistan was created on the basis of a great vision and the people of Kashmir were fighting for the survival of this vision and were sacrificing their lives on daily basis. »

Srinagar, March 23 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, Indian troops arrested six Kashmiri youth in Kapwara district, today.

The youth were arrested during a cordon and search operation in Keran area of the district.

Four of the arrested youth are from Sopore area of Baramulla district and they have been identified as Ehtisham Farooq Malik, Shafqat Ali Tego, Masab Hassan Butt and Nisar Ahmad Ganai.

The other two are residents of Karen area of Kapawara district and were identified as Kabir Lone and Sharif Ahmed Khan.

Srinagar, March 23 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Jammu and Kashmir Youth Social Forum Chairman, Umer Adil Dar has expressed grief and sorrow over the sad demise of Ghulam Mohammad Butt who passed away, today.

Ghulam Mohammad Butt, a resident of Handwara, was a prominent member of Jamaat-e-Islami of occupied Kashmir and was suffering from cancer.

He said that the deceased was a spiritual guide, whose loss created a big vacuum in the society. »

Islamabad, March 23 (KMS): President of Pakistan Dr Arif Alvi and Prime Minister Imran Khan have reiterated the Pakistan’s resolve to continue extending moral, political and diplomatic support for the Kashmirs’ right to self-determination.

The President and the Prime Minister in their messages on Pakistan Day, today, expressed unshakable support to the oppressed people of occupied Jammu and Kashmir who have been subjected to an inhuman lockdown for over seven months.

President Dr Arif Alvi said, “I assure the people of Jammu and Kashmir that Pakistan will stand shoulder to shoulder with them and will continue its moral, political and diplomatic support for their legitimate right of self-determination.” »

Islamabad, March 23 (KMS): Foreign Minister of Pakistan, Shah Mehmood Qureshi, while paying homage to the vision of the Quaid-e-Azam, the Founder of Pakistan, on the Pakistan Day, today, made a particular mention of more than eight million Kashmiris besieged by the Indian occupation forces in occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

Shah Mehmood Qureshi in his message on the occasion said, the Kashmiri people are suffering unimaginable adversity for the crime of yearning for Azadi. “With an iron-will, and with all the political, diplomatic and moral force at its command, Pakistan will continue to stand by its Kashmiri brethren, till the dawn of self-determination.” »

Srinagar, March 23 (KMS): The National Conference (NC) leader, Justice (retired) Hasnain Masoodi, has said that, on one hand, Indian government is taking all possible steps to combat the COVID-19 challenge and, on the other, its insensitivity to the plight of detainees under draconian Public Safety Act is deplorable.

Justice Hasnain Masoodi in a statement issued in Srinagar said that detainees from Jammu and Kashmir mostly in early twenties and some more than sixty years of age are lodged in Ambedkar Nagar, Lukhnow, Allahabad, Agra, Tihar and other jails of India, hundreds of miles away from their homes and their kith and kin. »

Srinagar, March 23 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, no night-long prayers were held on Shab-e-Meraj in any major mosques or shrines in Kashmir due to intensified clampdown imposed by Indian authorities in the name of Coronavirus threat.

Shab-e-Meraj is observed on 27th of Rajab of Islamic lunar calendar every year. Every year, the biggest congregational on this occasion was traditionally witnessed at revered Hazratbal shrine in Srinagar where thousands of devotees would assemble. However, no such observation was held at the shrine, this year. »

Srinagar, March 23 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, unknown persons lobbed a grenade towards deployment of Indian forces in Kakapora area of south Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Sunday evening.

An official said that the grenade was lobbed towards Indian troops in Kakapora Chowk, Pulwama. He said that a bomb disposal squad was called to dispose of the grenade, adding that search operation has been launched in the area to nab the attackers. »

Lockdown may spoil Kashmir’s apple industry

Srinagar, March 23 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the authorities have ordered shutdown of all establishments except those providing essential services and commodities across Jammu and Kashmir from Sunday evening till March 31.

Chief Secretary BVR Subrahmanyam in a letter to all 20 deputy commissioners of Jammu and Kashmir said, “The shutdown will come into effect from 8 pm on Sunday till 6 pm on March 31.” He said the shutdown was necessary to prevent the spread of COVID-19 pandemic and break the transmission chain of the virus. »
