Indian troops martyr one Kashmiri youth in Sopore

Srinagar, April 08 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, senior APHC leader and Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Jammu and Kashmir Chairman, Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai, has called upon the UN Secretary General António Guterres to appoint a special representative to explore a viable solution to the festering Kashmir dispute.

Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai in a statement issued in Srinagar while paying tributes to the Kashmiri martyrs said that everyday innocent Kashmiris were getting killed due to the unresolved Kashmir conflict. He emphasized that the Kashmiris had for years been writing in blood that they wanted ‘Aazadi’ to self-determine their destiny. He said Kashmir, which is one of the longest standing disputes in the world, is continuously leaving behind tragic stories, wails and thousands of untold stories. He deplored that while the world was involved in fight against the lethal coronavirus, Indian brutal regime had intensified war against the innocent people in occupied Kashmir. »

Srinagar, April 08 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front has paid glowing tributes to noted religious scholar and former Chief of Jamiat Ahle Hadees Jammu and Kashmir, Maulana Showkat Ahmed Shah, on his martyrdom anniversary.

Maulana Showkat Ahmed Shah was killed in a blast of an improvised device (IED) on April 8, 2011, outside mosque at Maisuma in Srinagar. »

Islamabad, April 08 (KMS): Hurriyat AJK leaders, Abdul Majeed Malik and Aijaz Rehmani, have expressed concern over the safety and security of Kashmiri prisoners languishing in Indian jails in the wake of coronavirus outbreak.

APHC-AJK leader and Vice Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir People’s Movement, Abdul Majeed Malik, in a statement issued in Islamabad said that many Kashmiri detainees had developed various ailments due to lack of medical facility in jails. »

Srinagar, April 08 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, Indian troops in their fresh act of state terrorism martyred one Kashmiri youth in Sopore town of Baramulla district, today.

The youth was martyred by the troops during a violent cordon and search operation at Gulababad Arampora area of the town. The troops also destroyed a residential house in the area.

The operation continued till last reports came in.

Toronto (Canada), April 08 (KMS): The Toronto-based International Freedom of Expression Exchange (IFEX), a global network of over a hundred non-governmental organisations striving for freedom of expression, has called for an end to gag on 4G mobile internet in occupied Kashmir amid the prevailing coronavirus pandemic.

The IFEX in a statement posted on its website said the pandemic and the simultaneous lockdown that have forced people the world over locked up indoors have had an even more crippling impact as high speed internet remains blocked for over eight months in occupied Kashmir. »

New York, April 08 (KMS): The US-based global body for press freedom, Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ), has demanded immediate release of incarcerated Kashmiri journalists, Aasif Sultan and Qazi Shibli.

The Asia Desk of CPJ in a tweet said, “In midst of COVID-19 pandemic, Jammu & Kashmir authorities should follow High Court’s direction and release journalists Aasif Sultan and Qazi Shibli. Charges against Sultan and Shibli must also be dropped.” »

Srinagar, April 08 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, Hurriyat leader, Javaid Ahmed Mir, has said that as the world is engaged in fighting deadly coronavirus, India is pursuing the Israeli policies to perpetuate its illegal occupation over Jammu and Kashmir.

Beijing, April 08 (KMS): China has once again called for a peaceful resolution of the Kashmir dispute as per the United Nations resolutions.

A spokesman of the Chinese Mission to the UN while rejecting the Indian media claim that China had ignored Pakistan’s call for urgent consideration of the situation in occupied Kashmir during its presidency of the Security Council in March this year, reiterated that China’s stance on Kashmir remains unchanged calling it a dispute left from history. »

Srinagar, April 08 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Kashmir Press Club has condemned the attempts by the authorities to throttle information on coronavirus amid the lockdown.

The Kashmir Press Club in a statement issued in Srinagar said the recent order issued by the Director, Health Services, ordering the doctors and paramedics “not to share information with the media about the ongoing crisis” was nothing but a crude attempt to further stifle the freedom of the press in the region. »
