Islamabad, May 03 (KMS): The All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir (APHC-AJK) chapter held a protest demonstration outside the National Press Club, Islamabad, on the occasion of World Press Freedom day, today.

The purpose of the protest was to draw the attention of the United Nations and other international human rights organisations towards the cruelties on the journalists of occupied Kashmir by Indian forces.

Addressing on the occasion, Hurriyat leaders deplored that in occupied Kashmir, the Indian government was harassing journalists and people associated with journalism through black laws. »

Srinagar, May 03 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has said that under the international law, every journalist has the right to be free to carry out journalistic responsibilities, but despite this freedom of the press, the journalist community faces enormous difficulties in the territory.

The APHC spokesman in a statement issued in Srinagar on the occasion of World Press Day, today, said that the journalist community of occupied Kashmir was facing immense difficulties and suffering in the presence of millions of Indian forces.

The spokesman said that due to the outrage of the Indian forces, many journalists in the territory had lost their lives till date and during the protests or clashes between the protesters and the Indian forces, the journalist community was being targeted by the forces personnel. He said that journalists were beaten, stripped of their equipment and threatened to prevent them from reporting brutal violence against unarmed people by forces personnel. He said that the journalist community of Kashmir was facing immense difficulties due to lingering Kashmir dispute. »

Srinagar, May 03 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Mirwaiz Foundation has created recorded sermons of Mirwaiz Umar Farooq for the people during the holy month of Ramadan.

Mirwaiz Foundation in a statement issued in Srinagar urged the people to observe social distancing and offer prayers at home amidst coronavirus lockdown.

The statement said that the Foundation had created a series of recorded sermons by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, who had not been able to take to the pulpit since August last year due to his continued illegal house detention. »

Brussels, May 03 (KMS): The Chairman of Kashmir Council Europe (KC-EU), Ali Raza Syed has said that the United Nations in its recent report has exposed bitter facts concerning real existing situation in Indian occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

In his recent report, a UN human rights official has called the communications blockade imposed by India in occupied Kashmir as the “most prominent and long-term internet shutdown” in the world, saying it restricted expression and other fundamental rights, especially since the outbreak of coronavirus.

“In 2019, the Government imposed what several mandate holders found to be ‘a form of collective punishment of the people of Jammu and Kashmir, without even a pretext of a precipitating offence’,” David Kaye, UN Special Rapporteur on the promotion and protection of the right to freedom of opinion and expression, said in a report. He was referring to the unleashing of tough measures by India on August 5, when New Delhi unlawfully annexed the disputed Kashmir region. »

Srinagar, May 03 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, Indian forces have martyred 20 youth in eight different cordon and search operations in the past two weeks in South Kashmir, Indian police said.

On April 17, Indian troops martyred two Kashmiri youth in an operation at Dairoo-Keegam in Shopian and the forces’ personnel took their bodies to a far off Baramula village for burial.

On April 22, four youth, hailing from Shopian and Pulwama villages, were killed in a CASO at Melhoora village in Zainapora area of Shopian and their bodies were too taken by police to Ganderbal for burial. »

New Delhi, May 03 (KMS): Renowned Indian writer, defense analyst and editor of famous Indian magazine FORCE, Pravin Sawahney, has grilled military top brass over the loss of life of Indian soldiers in occupied Kashmir.

Pravin Sawhney while referring to the killing of an Indian army colonel, major and two soldiers during an encounter with Mujahideen in Handwara, today, in a tweet expressed anger at the Indian Army leadership.

Addressing the top army leadership, he asked why they were wasting brave soldiers, knowing well that they cannot win the war in occupied Kashmir. »

Dubai, May 03 (KMS): Three more Indian nationals based in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have either been fired or suspended from their jobs for Islamophobic posts on social media.

Chef Rawat Rohit, storekeeper, Sachin Kinnigoli and a cash custodian, whose identity was withheld by his employer, are the latest additions to a list of about half a dozen Indians who have faced action for their social media posts, the Gulf News reported on Saturday. »

Srinagar, May 03 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, journalist Qazi Shibli, who was in an Indian jail for nine months under draconian Public Safety Act (PSA), has said that his cell in the jail was like a cage and ghosts haunted him.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Qazi Shibli in a media interview in Srinagar after release from his illegal detention said that he was summoned to the police station on July 27, 2019 in connection with a story regarding the heightened troop deployment and movement and a thread of tweets on the same.

He said that he was questioned for three consecutive days for his other tweets and the financial aspect of his news-website, The Kashmiriyat. He said that after two days, he was shifted to Central Jail, Srinagar. The journalist said that on 8th August, he was told that he was detained under the PSA. »
