Schweiz Genf Antonio Guterres To Become Next UN Secretary-General (picture-alliance/ZUMAPRESS/Xu Jinquan) New York, June 16 (KMS): The Secretary General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, has expressed serious concern over the killing of children in occupied Kashmir.

The Secretary General’s report released on Monday said, the UN has verified the killing of eight children in Kashmir. Guterres said in the report that the casualties in Kashmir occurred mainly due to torture in detention, shootings, including from pellet guns.

     The killed Indian Colonel

New Delhi, June 16 (KMS): Twenty Indian soldiers including a Colonel were killed in a violent face-off on Monday night with Chinese troops at Galwan Valley in Ladakh.

Indian Media quoting Indian Army said that India retaliated and there were casualties on both sides.

As per reliable sources several dead bodies of the Indian troops including Colonel have been retrieved so far. These bodies include that of Colonel, Santosh Babu, the Commanding Officer of 16 Bihar Regiment, who was killed by drowning. The Chinese soldiers held him under the water till he died.

This is the first violent incident involving fatalities since 1975 between India and China, who fought a border war in 1962.

India said the clash arose from “an attempt by the Chinese side to unilaterally change the status quo” on the border. »

File PhotoSrinagar, June 16 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, Farooq Abdullah led National Conference (NC) and the Hindu fascist Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) have colluded to remove Junaid Azim Mattu as Mayor of Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC).

Junaid Azim Mattu, a leader of the Sajjad Lone led Peoples Conference, was toppled after 42 out of 74 corporators passed a no-confidence motion against him while the rest 28 abstained from voting, today morning. Four seats of the SMC are vacant.

Mattu, who survived a similar attempt by the BJP in last December, himself announced the development on Twitter saying that corporators from BJP and NC had polled against those from his party and the Congress, which had already announced its support to Mattu in the motion.

He said that he respected the verdict of the Corporation, adding the seemingly unthinkable seems to have happened as the NC and the BJP have come together in Srinagar. Mattu also changed his twitter bio to “Former Mayor of Srinagar”.

Srinagar, June 16 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the High Court on Tuesday quashed the Public Safety Act against National Conference General Secretary, Ali Mohammad Sagar.

Omar Abdullah in a tweet said, “The J&K High Court has quashed the detention of my senior colleague JKNC General Secretary Ali Mohd Sagar. Thankfully, he challenged his detention even when those around him were reluctant to. This once again highlights the unjust & indefensible nature of the 5th Aug detentions.” »

Srinagar, June 16 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, Indian troops in their fresh act of state terrorism, martyred three Kashmiri youth in Shopian district.

The youth were killed by the troops during a cordon and search operation in Turkwangam area of the district.

Srinagar, June 16 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Secretary General of All Parties Hurriyat Conference, Molvi Bashir Ahmed, has said that Indian forces are targeting Kashmiri people after laying siege around villages and towns in the territory.

Molvi Bashir Ahmed in a statement issued in Srinagar while paying tributes to the three youth martyred by Indian troops in Turkwangam area of Shopian district, today, said that state terrorism unleashed by India continued to claim precious lives in Kashmir. Srinagar, June 16 (KMS): An earthquake measuring 5.8 on Richter scale struck occupied Jammu and Kashmir at 7 am on Tuesday. This was the third earthquake to hit the territory in three days.

Rpicentre of the earthquake was in Tajikistan at a depth of around 100 kilometer. People living in most parts of the Kashmir Valley and parts of Jammu region including Srinagar, Kishtwar and Doda districts felt the tremors.

Earlier, an earthquake of magnitude 3.6 hit occupied Jammu and Kashmir on Monday night too. Also on the same day, an earthquake measuring 4.4 on the Richter Scale struck Rajkot at 12:57 pm. Tremors were also felt in Bhachau region of Kutch.

Srinagar, June 16 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, APHC leader and the Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Social Peace Forum (JKSPF), Advocate Devinder Singh Behl, visited in Srinagar the residence of illegally detained senior resistance leader, Shabbir Ahmed Shah, who is presently lodged in New Delhi’s infamous Tihar Jail, since 2017.

Advocate Devinder Singh Behl while talking to the family of the detained leader said that India after failing to stop Shabbir Ahmed Shah from raising voice for Kashmiris’ right to self-determination and human rights violations perpetrated by Indian troops in occupied Kashmir implicated him in a false case. »

The media body during its Executive Council meeting in Srinagar, today, thoroughly discussed the media policy of the Indian government and other draconian laws being used to intimidate the media fraternity in Kashmir.
