Srinagar, June 18 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, Indian troops launched a cordon and search operation in South Kashmir’s Shopian district, today.

The troops cordoned off Bandpawa village in Imam Sahib area of the district and launched searches. The operation was going on when last reports came in.

Washington, June 18 (KMS): The Washington-based World Kashmir Awareness Forum (WKAF), on behalf of Kashmiri Americans and the people of Jammu and Kashmir, has congratulated the senior Turkish diplomat, Ambassador Volkan Bozkir, on his election as the President of the United Nations General Assembly.

The WKAF General Secretary, Dr Ghulam Nabi Fai, in a statement issued in Washington said that if the people of occupied Kashmir had the freedom to express their sentiments, Ambassador Volkan Bozkir, would no doubt have heard their loud rejoicing at the fact that the distinguished representative of brotherly country – Turkey – was presiding over the parliament of nations, this year. »

Srinagar, June 18 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the High Court has directed police not to take coercive steps till June 24 against author and senior journalist, Gowhar Geelani in any matter.

The directive was passed after the petitioner’s counsel, Salih Pirzada, submitted that Gowhar Geelani was being harassed even as he was cooperating with the investigating agencies. »

Srinagar, June 18 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, senior Hurriyat leader Professor Abdul Ghani Butt has stressed the need for a peaceful resolution of the Kashmir dispute.

Professor Abdul Ghani Butt addressing a meeting in Srinagar while pitching for dialogue between Pakistan and India to resolve the decades-old Kashmir dispute said that war between the two-neighboring countries would only bring destruction in the region. »

Srinagar, June 18 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, six more coronavirus patients have died, taking the number of fatalities due to the deadly virus in the territory to 72.

Four deaths were reported from the Kashmir Valley while two from Jammu division.

The four deaths in the Kashmir Valley include that of an 80-year-old man from Nawa Bazar area of Srinagar, a 65-year-old man from Chakoora, Shopian, a 65-year-old woman from Tengpora Batamaloo area of Srinagar and a 70-year-old man from Budgam district. »

Srinagar, June 18 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Acting Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Muslim League (JKML), Farooq Ahmed Tawheedi, hailing the determination of illegally detained Chairman of the party, Masarrat Aalam Butt, has said that Masarrat Aalam But is a symbol of resistance in the territory.

Farooq Ahmed Tawheedi in a statement issued in Srinagar said many party activists including Mushtaq Ahmed Butt, Ghulam Muhammad, Mushtaq Ahmed Zargar and Abdul Rashid were martyred by the Indian forces at different times during detention. »

Srinagar, June 18 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Youth Social Forum, Umar Aadil Dar, has said that the time has come for the Indian government to take into account the explosive situation of Kashmir.

Umar Aadil Dar in a statement issued in Srinagar, while reacting to the violent face-off between Indian and Chinese troops in Ladakh, urged India to find a lasting solution to the Kashmir dispute instead of using power to crush the just struggle of the Kashmiri people. At least 20 Indian troops including officers were killed and dozens others injured during a severe clash in Galwan Valley in Ladakh on Monday night.

Umar Aadil Dar said that meaningful and result-oriented tripartite dialogue was the best way to bring about the resolution of the lingering Kashmir dispute which should not be delayed further. »

blankSrinagar, June 18 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, an officer of Indian paramilitary Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) committed suicide in Pulwama district.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the CRPF officer identified as ASI Moti Ram of 178 Battalion ended his life by shooting himself with his service rifle in Awantipora area of the district.

Public Relations Officer CRPF, Junaid Khan, confirmed the incident saying they were investigating under what circumstances the trooper had killed himself. »

Srinagar, June 18 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, APHC leader and the Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Social Peace Forum (JKSPF), Advocate Devinder Singh Behl, has expressed concern over the plight of illegally detained Hurriyat leaders and activists languishing in different jails of India.

A delegation led by Advocate Devinder Singh Behl visited the house of Hurriyat leader, Muhammad Yousuf Falahi, at Chatragam in Shopian and expressed sympathy with his family.

Muhammad Yousuf Falahi has been illegally detained in an Indian jail since 2016 and his health condition is very bad and his family is very much worried about his welfare. »

Srinagar, June 18 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, Islami Tannzeem-e-Azadi has expressed concern over serious threat to the lives of illegally detained Hurriyat leaders and activists from coronavirus in different Indian jails.

The Islami Tanzeem-e-Azadi spokesman in a statement issued in Srinagar demanded immediate release of all the detained Kashmiris including Muhammad Yasin Malik, Shabbir Ahmed Shah, Aasiya Andrabi, Masarrat Aalam Butt, Abdul Samad Inquilabi, Dr Muhammad Shafi Shariati, Mian Abdul Quyoom and others currently languishing in different jails of New Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Kashmir. »
