India poses serious threat to regional peace: Naqshbandi

Islamabad, June 18 (KMS): The Convener of Azad Jammu and Kashmir chapter of Mirwaiz Umar Farooq-led Hurriyat Forum, Syed Faiz Naqshbandi has said that India has become a serious threat to the regional peace and security.

Syed Faiz Naqshbandi addressing a meeting of the forum in Islamabad deplored that the Indian forces were not only committing genocide of Kashmiris in occupied Kashmir but also using heavy artillery on civilian population on the Line of Control (LoC) causing heavy human losses. Besides India has increased its military deployment in the occupied territory making it the most militarised zone in the world, he added.

He deplored that Kashmiris in the occupied territory were completely deprived of freedom of expression, freedom of assembly and press. He also expressed serious concern over the human rights abuses in occupied Kashmir, perpetrated by Indian forces under the garb of coronavirus pandemic and deployment.

The meeting demanded immediate release of its illegally detained Chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, who has been under illegal house arrest since August 5, 2019 and no one was allowed to meet him.

He appealed to the UN Secretary General to put pressure on India to release Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Syed Ali Gilani, Mohammad Yasin Malik, Aaysia Andrabi, Shabbir Ahmed Shah and other Hurriyet leaders youth and activists languishing in various jails across India and the territory. He added that they were under serious threat due to the coronavirus outbreak.

Others who attended the meeting included Aijaz Rehmani, Zahid Safi and Mian Muzaffar Ahmed.
