Islamabad, July 15 (KMS): The Mirwaiz forum of Hurriyat AJK chapter has strongly condemned the illegal house arrest of Mirwaiz Umar Farooq by the Indian authorities in Srinagar, occupied Kashmir since August 5, 2019.

The forum at a meeting in Islamabad, chaired by its Convener Syed Faiz Naqshbandi deplored that Indian troops had intensified their acts of state terrorism in occupied Kashmir where youth were martyred in staged encounters on daily basis. »

Srinagar, July 15 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, Hurriyat leader Jahangir Ghani Butt has condemned the arrest of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Jammu and Kashmir Chairman, Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai under draconian law Public Safety Act.

Jahangir Ghani Butt in a statement issued in Srinagar said such atrocities are unacceptable. “Presently, world is going through an abysmally precarious situation due to COVID-19 pandemic, but the Indian government is arresting, torturing and killing innocent Kashmiris,” he added. »

Srinagar, July 15 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the owners of thousands of private buses, which have remained off road in the territory for more than 10 months, have been forced to dismantle them and sell the parts to junk dealers to meet their daily needs.

The transport sector has been badly hit in occupied Kashmir since the region was stripped of its autonomy last August after India decided to revoke Article 370 of its Constitution and imposed a prolonged curfew, and then the territory was put under a lockdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic. »

Srinagar, July 15: The office of the United Nations High Commissioner (OHCHR) has made public its letter to the Government of India, voicing strong concern at the criminal proceedings and investigations initiated against the four well-known Kashmiri journalists.

David Kaye, the UN’s Special Rapporteur on the promotion and protection of the right to freedom of opinion, in a detailed letter has expressed concern over the police cases lodged against four Kashmiri journalists Naseer Ganai, Gowhar Geelani, Peerzada Ashiq and Masarrat Zehra. The letter condemns the alleged harassment meted out to these journalists. »

New Delhi, July 15 (KMS): In an apparent move to extend the detention of a renowned Kashmiri lawyer, Indian Supreme Court has asked the authorities if the prolonged detention of Jammu & Kashmir Bar Association President, Mian Abdul Qayoom, was required even after expiry of his detention period of one year.

The petition challenging the decision of the High Court of occupied Kashmir to uphold Qayoom’s detention was taken up for hearing by the Bench of Justices Sanjay Kishan Kaul and Indu Malhotra, today. The court had earlier sought the authorities’ response on the same.

Solicitor General Tushar Mehta sought a period of ten more days from the Court in order to file the response. Senior Advocate Dushyant Dave, representing Qayoom, questioned if such delays were reasonable in a matter involving the writ of Habeas Corpus. »

Srinagar, July 15 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has expressed serious concern over the deteriorating health of illegally detained Hurriyat leaders and activists, languishing in different jails of India and Kashmir.

APHC spokesman in a statement in Srinagar while condemning the continued cordon and search operations and arrest of Hurriyat leaders and youth during house raids by Indian forces urged the international community and the United Nations to send teams to the occupied territory to see for themselves how the people of Kashmir were being treated inhumanly by the Indian occupational forces. »

Srinagar, July 15 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Bharatiya Janata Party led Municipal Committee Vice President, Merajudin Malla, was kidnapped by some unknown people in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

Some unknown people pushed the Indian army backed BJP Councilor, Merajudin Malla, into a car while he was walking on a road in Watergam area of the district and sped away, a senior police officer said. »

Islamabad, July 15 (KMS): Speakers at a webinar drew the attention of the global community towards the illegality of Indian military presence in occupied Kashmir and stressed the need to stimulate the implementation of the UN-advocated solution to the Jammu and Kashmir dispute.

The conference organized by Center of Pakistan and International Relations (COPAIR) addressed the dire need to identify collective efforts by all international actors to highlight the human rights abuses the Muslims are suffering from in occupied Kashmir. »

Brussels, July 15 (KMS): The chairman of Kashmir Council Europe (KC-EU), Ali Raza Syed has praised the support of the outgoing German Member of European Parliament (MEP), Dr Klaus Buchner to the oppressed people of occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

The Green European Free Alliance’s MEP has recently completed his responsibilities at the European Parliament. Ali Raza Syed during a meeting with the ex-MEP thanked him for his support to the people of Kashmir. The meeting was also attended by wife of Dr Klaus Buchner, who works for human rights. »

Srinagar, July 15 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, seven more death due to coronavirus were reported, today morning, taking the number of COVID-19 related fatalities to over 200.

All the seven fresh deaths were reported from the Kashmir Valley. Of these, six coronavirus patients died at Soura Institute of Medical Sciences in Srinagar and one at Government Medical College (GMC) in Islamabad.

With these fatalities, the death toll due to COVID-19 rose to 203 in the occupied territory including 184 in the Kashmir Valley, 18 in Jammu division and 01 in Ladakh region.
