Aligarh, India, July 17 (KMS): Wife of Dr Kafeel has urged the doctors to stand by her husband and sharing her anguish at Dr Kafeel’s prolonged captivity.
Dr Kafeel Khan was slapped with the draconian National Security Act (NSA) over his speech against the BJP government and Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) at Aligarh Muslim University in India during the anti-CAA protests in December last year. He is currently lodged in Mathura jail, India.
Shabista Khan, wife of Dr Kafeel Khan, in a letter addressed to a forum of doctors and medical professionals has brought into their notice the grave injustice done to her husband for the past two years.
She said that her husband served in his purest capacity as a loyal and committed doctor of India but still, he is being continuously targeted as a scapegoat for highlighting administrative and infrastructure failure of the Indian health system.
Shabista Khan said her souse took part in a few protests against CAA-NRC but he was again singled out by the UP government to slap NSA on him when the Chief Judicial Magistrate of Aligarh granted him bail.
He had been continuously pleading the government to let him work and use his experience at such critical times of the COVID-19 crisis but still his NSA is not revoked after three months of detention.
Dr Kafeel became a renowned health care worker by conducting more than 100 free medical camps at the remotest places in India. His campaigns at the time of chamki fever at Bihar (2019), Kerala floods (2018), Bihar floods 2019, Nipah virus outbreak (2018) in Kerala are a few noticeable ones.
Shabista Khan said, she knows it is a forum to share professional information but she sincerely expects that the doctors’ team will stand with her husband.
