Srinagar, July 31 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the Hurriyat forum led by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, has urged the Kashmiri people to observe 5th August as Black Day.

The Hurriyat forum in a statement issued in Srinagar deplored that on 5th August, last year, the Indian government in violation of international law and UN resolutions scrapped Kashmir’s special status and divided it into two union territories.

It said that the only aim behind it was to change the demographic character of Jammu and Kashmir, which was a matter of great concern among the Kashmiri people and would have serious consequences for the territory.

It advised the people of occupied Kashmir to be very vigilant and not sell their land or any property to non-Kashmiris at any cost, adding that the Indian government should stop issuing domicile certificates to the outsiders. “People should remember the sacrifices of our martyrs as they have sacrificed their life for others,” the forum added.

The Hurriyat forum appealed to the United Nations to play its role in granting Kashmiris their birthright to self-determination and force India to stop its state terrorism in the occupied territory.

The Hurriyat forum also felicitated the Muslim Ummah on Eid-ul-Azha.
