Pakistan to always stand by their Kashmiri brethren: President Alvi » Kashmir Media Service

Islamabad, August 05 (KMS): President Dr Arif Alvi has emphatically stated that Pakistan will always stand by their Kashmiri brethren and will not leave them alone in their just struggle for securing their right to self-determination.

Speaking in the Senate today, he said that Pakistan has always waged a peaceful struggle for resolution of the lingering Kashmir dispute and would continue to do so in future as well. He said the new map released by the government yesterday is actually based on reality.

The President lamented that a new wave of oppression and atrocities has been unleashed in Indian illegal occupied Jammu and Kashmir after the illegal steps of 5th August 2019. He said that the Kashmir Valley had been turned into a prison.

He said the Kashmiri people have been facing brutalities over the last many decades but these intensified over the last one year.

Dr Arif Alvi said extrajudicial killings have increased in the occupied territory while the Kashmiri leadership has been detained illegally. He said that 13,000 Kashmiri youth have also been arrested over the last one year. “Other crimes that have been committed against the Kashmiri people include communication blackout and stopping medical supplies as well as the access of humanitarian agencies to the territory,” he pointed out.

He said the military siege has rendered hundreds of thousands of Kashmiri youth jobless and inflicted loss of billions of dollars to their economy.

The President said that the illegal action of last year were immoral and contrary to international law including Geneva Convention. He said India scrapped the special status of the occupied territory to change its demography. He said the fascist Hindutva policy is visible in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
