Srinagar, August 06 (KMS): Prominent human rights organization, Amnesty International urging the Modi government to urgently stop the protracted clampdown in Indian illegally Jammu and Kashmir has demanded release of all political leaders, journalists and activists, besides restoration of high speed internet in the territory.

A statement issued by Amnesty International on the completion of one year to the repeal of special status of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the human rights watchdog also asked the Indian government to decongest prisons and launch a prompt and independent investigation into the attacks on journalists in the territory. »

Srinagar, August 06 (KMS): In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, a hundred political prisoners including Hayat Ahmed Butt and Javed Ahmed Munshi were shifted, today, from Srinagar Central Jail to various prisons outside the Kashmir Valley.

The political prisoners illegally detained under black law Public Safety Act amid COVID-19 situation were shifted to Kot Bhalwal Jail and other prisons of Jammu region.

The families of the detainees have urged the UN and world human rights organizations including Amnesty International to take cognizance of the plight of the Kashmiri prisoners and play role in their immediate release.

Paris, August 06 (KMS): Paris-based media watchdog, Reporters Without Borders (RSF) while maintaining that the working has been “hell” for journalists in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir for the past year, has slammed the government of India over its press freedom violations in the territory.

“Working has been hell for journalists in Kashmir for the past year,” said Daniel Bastard, the head of RSF’s Asia-Pacific desk, in a press statement from the group’s Paris-based headquarters.

“Drastic controls on information, obstructing the dissemination of articles and videos, intimidation by the security forces in the field, every kind of judicial harassment and violation of the confidentiality of sources – the list of press freedom violations by the Indian authorities in Kashmir is unworthy of a democracy. If Narendra Modi’s government maintains these policies, it will go down in history as the one that deprived 8 million citizens of reliable news and information in mid-pandemic,” he added. »

Srinagar, August 06 (KMS): In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, renowned student leader and social activist of South Kashmir, Syed Tajamul Imran distributed cricket uniforms among young cricketers of Shopian in memory of his martyred brother, Syed Ruban.

This was the third time when cricket uniforms along with other cricket equipment were distributed among players in the district. A cricket match too was played in his memory. »

Srinagar, August 06 (KMS): In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the Jammu and Kashmir Employees Movement (JKEM), a constituent of All Parties Hurriyat Conference, has thanked the people and government of Pakistan for expressing solidarity with the oppressed people of the territory.

A spokesman for JKEM in a statement issued in Srinagar said the people of Pakistan have been expressing solidarity with their Kashmiri brethren for the last over 72 years. He said by observing the 5th August as Youm-e-Istehsal in Pakistan and across the world, the Pakistanis showed that they are with their Kashmiri brethren against the oppressive rule of India and will continue to support the Kashmiris until they achieved their right to self-determination. »

Srinagar, August 06 (KMS): In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, three more leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) from south Kashmir have resigned citing various reasons.

According to Kashmir Media Service, this comes after the killing of BJP Sarpanch, Sajad Ahmad Khanday, by unidentified gunmen in Vessu area of Qazigund.

Reports said that three more BJP leaders from South Kashmir announced to quit the party. Those who quit BJP are Shabbir Ahmed Khan Reyaz Ahmed Rathar and Abdul Khaliq Sheikh all residents of Narupora Watnard area of Kokernag. »

Beijing, August 06 (KMS): China has said that India’s unilateral move to split the Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir into two union territories and change the status quo was illegal and invalid.

Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson, Wang Wenbin, in a statement in Beijing said, “China follows closely the situation in the Kashmir region. China’s position on the Kashmir issue is clear and consistent.”

He said, “This issue is a dispute leftover from history between Pakistan and India. That is an objective fact as laid out by the UN Charter, UN Security Council resolutions and the bilateral agreements between Pakistan and India.” »
