Kuala Lumpur, August 08 (KMS): Former Prime Minister of Malaysia, Dr Mahathir Mohammad said that he chose to stand with humanity when he spoke out for the people of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir in the United Nations General Assembly.

Addressing a function in support of Kashmir in Kuala Lumpur, Mahathir Mohammad said that he chose to speak for the people of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir despite being aware of the possible backlash to his decision. He said that in his mind, silence was not an option.

He further said that Kashmiris were forced to live under harsh military rule and the international community should take notice of Kashmiri people’s plight. »

Indian police book TeH general secretary under draconian PSA

Srinagar, August 08 (KMS): In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the All Parties Hurriyat Conference has called for complete shutdown on Tuesday, 11th August, to pay glowing tributes to senior Hurriyat leader, Sheikh Abdul Aziz, on his martyrdom anniversary.

Sheikh Abdul Aziz was shot dead by Indian troops while he was leading a procession from Srinagar to the Line of Control on August 11, 2008 against the economic blockade of the Kashmir Valley by Hindu extremists of Jammu.

The APHC spokesman in a statement in Srinagar said by observing the shutdown the people of the occupied territory will convey the message to India and the world that they are determined to accomplish the mission of their martyrs at all costs. He condemned the occupation authorities for shifting the Kashmiri political prisoners from Srinagar Central Jail to jails in Jammu region. He urged New Delhi to stop its military aggression and stubbornness on the Kashmir dispute and adopt a pragmatic approach to resolve it in accordance with the Kashmiris’ aspirations and the UN resolutions. »

Srinagar, August 08 (KMS): In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, while people from all walks of life have been facing severe difficulties after the Narendra Modi-led fascist Indian government of Bharatiya Janata Party illegally repealed Kashmir’s special status on August 5, last year and imposed a military siege, the journalists are also facing hurdles in performing their professional duties.

Yousuf Jameel, a Srinagar-based prominent journalist, wrote in an article published on Voice of America-Urdu.com that when the Indian government abolished Article 370 on August 5, 2019, it was not only regional but also big news globally. He wrote that complaints about detention of journalists, who were critical of the Indian government, had been common over the past one year, while communication restrictions and the closure of the Internet had made it difficult for them to continue their journalistic duties. »

Shift him from Sopore police station to Kot Bhalwal Jail

Srinagar, August 08 (KMS): In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Indian police have shifted the illegally  incarcerated General Secretary of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Jammu and Kashmir, Ameer Hamza Shah, from Sopore Police Station to Kot Bhalwal Jail.

The family of Ameer Hamza Shah told media that the police booked him under draconian law, Public Safety Act, a couple of days ago and lodged him at Kot Bhalwal Jail in Jammu. »

Srinagar, August 08 (KMS): In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Srinagar-based noted human rights activist, Khurram Parvez, has said that August 5 action by Modi government was yet another step towards completely annexing Kashmir – a move used to garner popular support in India at the expense of Kashmiris.

Khurram Parvez in an article in US-based Time magazine wrote that the consent of the governed, which is essential in a democracy, is not at all a concern for the Hindu nationalist government of India when it comes to the people of Jammu and Kashmir, which includes the Kashmir Valley.

Khurram Parvez, who is coordinator of the Jammu Kashmir Coalition of Civil Society and chairperson of the Asian Federation Against Involuntary Disappearances, wrote that IIOJK was under a lockdown long before COVID-19. “For weeks last year, all phone lines and internet services were cut off by the Indian government. Basic mobile-phone connectivity took months to be restored and a ban on high-speed 4G internet continues till this day,” he pointed out. »

Calls for complete shutdown in IIOJK on August 11

Srinagar, August 08 (KMS): In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the All Parties Hurriyat Conference, has welcomed the renaming of Kashmir Highway as Srinagar Highway by the government of Pakistan.

The APHC General Secretary, Molvi Bashir Ahmed, in a media interview in Srinagar said that such moves showed Pakistan’s commitment to the cause of liberating the occupied territory from Indian subjugation.

He also appreciated the efforts of Pakistan government particularly Prime minister Imran Khan for highlighting the Indian brutalities on the people of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir. He said that due to Pakistan’s forceful diplomatic campaign, the Kashmir dispute had become a focal point of world attention. »

Islamabad, August 08 (KMS): The Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party (DFP) has welcomed the 5th August UN Security Council meeting that discussed the Kashmir dispute and the prevailing situation in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).

The Acting Chairman of DFP, Mehmood Ahmed Saghar in a statement issued in Islamabad, today, while terming it a positive development, said that it was for the third time that the highest diplomatic forum had met to discuss situation in IIOJK since India had illegally abrogated its special status on August 5, last year. »

Srinagar, August 08 (KMS): In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the continued internet shutdown after 5 August 2019 has inflicted heavy losses on the local businesses community in the last one year.

Ever since Narendra Modi-led fascist government abrogated the special status of Indian Illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir on 5th August 2019, the Kashmir Valley has been deprived of high-speed internet. This is world’s longest internet shutdown.

Despite desperate appeals from traders, students and people from all walks of life, the 4G service has not been restored and seems unlikely to be back anytime soon. As per Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), which has estimated a whopping Rs 400 billion loss to Kashmir economy post 5 August 2019, sectors that have suffered the most due to internet shutdowns are: tourism, information-technology, horticulture, e-learning, and healthcare. »

Srinagar, August 08 (KMS): In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the Jammu and Kashmir Youth Social Forum (JKYSF) has expressed profound grief and sorrow over the demise of father of Jammu and Kashmir Muslim League activist, Zahoor Ahmed Kanna.

A delegation of JKYSF led by Chief Coordinator, Tauseef Ahmed, visited Fateh Kadal area of Srinagar and expressed sympathy and solidarity with the bereaved family. The delegation on the occasion held special prayers for the departed soul.

The JKYSF deplored that the families of Hurriyat leaders and activists were being harassed and tortured by Indian forces while their stance and patience for Kashmir cause was highly commendable. »

Islamabad, August 08 (KMS): Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi says the continued commitment of the international community will help generate the necessary momentum towards resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute in accordance with the wishes of the Kashmiri people and the relevant UN Security Council resolutions.

In a telephonic conversation with the US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, he said India’s regressive policies in the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir manifest with massive violations of basic human rights and fundamental freedoms. »
