BJP workers resign en masse amid attacks in IIOJK

Srinagar, August 10 (KMS): In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, attack on a worker of Hindu extremist organization, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Budgam, yesterday, has triggered mass resignations from party in the Kashmir Valley.

There were eight fresh resignations in 24 hours. About 17 BJP workers have resigned over the past month.

On Monday, police confirmed that Abdul Hamid Najar, who was shot at by attackers, had succumbed to injuries at a hospital. Najar was BJP leader and had joined the party a few months back.

He is the fourth BJP worker or office bearer who was targeted in the last one month. Earlier, BJP’s district president for Bandipora, Waseem Bari, his father and brother were shot dead by unknown attackers.

Political experts believe that there is growing realization among Kashmiri masses that the BJP is their number one enemy, since it is the same party which in negation of all international norms and aspirations of the Kashmiri people abrogated Article 370 and revoked Kashmir’s special status to change the Muslim majority status of the territory. That is why the people believe that whosoever will collaborate with the BJP is deemed to be the traitor of the Kashmir’s freedom struggle.
