Srinagar, August 20 (KMS): In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, activists of Jammu and Kashmir Youth Social Forum (JKYSF) held a protest demonstration at Lal Chowk in Srinagar against the members of a Hindu extremist group, who made derogatory remarks against the Prophet of Islam (PBUH) in Jammu.
The protesters including the Coordinator of JKYSF, Tauseef Ahmed and other forum activists were carrying banners and placards, denouncing the blasphemous remarks. They demanded exemplary punishment for those involved in insulting sentiments of Muslims.
Tauseef Ahmed on the occasion said that no Muslim would tolerate abuses against the Prophet (PBUH). The culprits should be detained under preventive law and must be given a strict punishment, he added.
He said that the offensive post against Islam has harmed Muslims and reflected the rising Islamophobia and targeting of the minority communities in India.
He also reacted on Banglore incident and said “The Indian police instead of preventing hate crime against Muslims and Islam, used brute force, killed at least three protesters, and injured many more. The Muslim community in the Banglore area is being falsely framed for vandalism and assault on police personnel.”
The JKYSF leader further said that the rising incidents of religious hate crime in India were a direct and inescapable consequence of the RSS-BJP combine’s extremist ideology of Hindutva.
He urged the international community, the United Nations and other international organisations to play their role against the rising tide of Islamophobia in India and ensure practical steps for the protection and religious rights of minorities in India, he maintained.
