Srinagar, August 23 (KMS): In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has termed the outbreak and spread of coronavirus among political prisoners in different jails of the territory as dangerous.

APHC spokesman in a statement issued in Srinagar said situation in the occupied territory’s prisons including Central Jail, Srinagar, Kot Bhalwal in Jammu and District Jail, Islamabad, has turned alarming as despite all censorship the media reports have confirmed that about 300 prisoners have been infected by the deadly virus.

He said that under international conventions the rights of political prisoners had to be honoured and protected under any circumstances but Kashmiri political prisoners were being systematically pushed towards the deadly virus in the overcrowded and unhygienic prisons where they were denied even basic facilities. »

Srinagar, August 23 (KMS): In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Indian police have arrested five Kashmiri youth from Bandipora district of north Kashmir.

Four of the arrested youth are from the north Kashmir district and one is from Srinagar.

A case under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) has been registered at Aragam police station against the youth. »

Islamabad, August 23 (KMS): Syed Inayatullah Andrabi, a Kashmiri intellectual  presently based in London, has said that so-called Kashmiri mainstream political parties are left with only two options – either to serve the interests of the occupier power, India or stand with the Kashmiris’ honour, dignity and freedom.

Syed Inayatullah Andrabi, elaborating his point in his latest tweets, said that National Conference starting to reactivate its politics is a significant thing to happen post Aug 5, 2019. He said that with no political space left to move forward, the party has to make a lifetime choice, more serious than merely existential, between two options.

He pointed out that the one option is that the National Conference can re-invent itself learning from over 70 years of its interaction with India including the post August, 2019 experiences, and decide to stand with the honour, dignity and freedom of Kashmir. »

Srinagar, August 23 (KMS): Freelance photojournalist from Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Masrat Zahra, was awarded the 2020 Peter Mackler Award for Courageous and Ethical Journalism.

She was named winner for the award for her work covering events in Kashmir with a specific focus on women in the region.

In her note, Catherine Antoine, president of the Global Media Forum Training Group and founder of the Peter Mackler Award, said: “Masrat Zahra exhibits the very qualities that my late husband, Peter Mackler, fostered in the new generation of reporters whose path he crossed.” »

Srinagar, Aug 23 (KMS): In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Muslim Conference, Shabbir Ahmed Dar has paid glowing tributes to the noted Kashmiri Hurriyet leader, Mushtaq Ahmed Wani ahead of his death anniversary.

Shabbir Ahmed Dar in a statement issued in Srinagar said that Mushtaq Wani was a devoted freedom fighter from his childhood and his conviction with the passage of time grew so strong that he always made the case for freedom of Kashmir fearlessly in presence of Indian forces. »

Srinagar, August 23 (KMS): In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the Kashmir Trade Alliance (KTA) on Sunday said the Valley’s economy suffered a loss of Rs 45,000 crore during the past one-year lockdown.

An online report released by the Trade Alliance in Srinagar, today, said, trade in the Valley has suffered a total loss of Rs 21,320.64 crore in the past five months as a result of the lockdown caused by the Coronavirus in the Valley since March 18. »

Srinagar, Aug 23 (KMS): In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, illegally detained Hurriyat leader and Chairman of Islami Tanzeem-e-Azadi Jammu and Kashmir, Abdul Samad Inqilabi has deplored that the Indian troops are killing innocent youth on daily basis in the so-called cordon and search operations.

Abdul Samad Inqilabi in his statement issued from Srinagar central jail paid tribute to the youth who was martyred by Indian troops in Salusa area of Baramulla and strongly condemned the killing and injuring of unarmed civilians by the Indian forces.

He said that India was considering Jammu and Kashmir as a colony and that was why instead of resolving the Kashmir dispute according to its political background and aspirations of the Kashmiri people, it was suppressing the Kashmiris by military might. »

Jammu, August 23 (KMS): In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, a warrant officer in the Indian Air Force (IAF) has committed suicide by shooting himself with his service pistol inside a camp in Jammu.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Warrant Officer, Inder Pal Singh, 53, a resident of Uttar Pradesh, shot himself at Air Force Station, Kalu Chak, on the outskirts of Jammu.

As per officials, Inder Pal Singh Singh’s colleagues rushed him to a nearby hospital where doctors declared him dead. »

Srinagar, August 23 (KMS): In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, APHC leader and Chairman of the Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Political Movement (DPM), Khawaja Firdous has said that the occupation authorities are illegally giving state subjects to Indian nationals to change the population ratio of the territory.

According to Kashmir Media Service, Khawaja Firdous in a statement issued in Srinagar said that under a well-thought-out plan, the Indian government was following agenda of the RSS and Hindutva to change the Muslim majority status of the territory into a minority.

He said the Indian authorities, on one hand, grant citizenship to a large number of non-Kashmiris and on the other, they are committing genocide of the Kashmiris. »

Srinagar, August 23 (KMS): In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Tehreek-e-Wahdat-e-Islami, a constituent of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has said that India has converted Jammu and Kashmir into another Karbala.

This was said by Tehreek-e-Wahdat at a meeting in Srinagar which was chaired by Nisar Hussain Rather. Paying tributes to Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA), the meeting discussed the current situation in Jammu and Kashmir and various programmes were finalized regarding the Muharram. »
