Srinagar, August 28 (KMS): In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the authorities prevented Muharram processions, today, by imposing strict restrictions across the Kashmir Valley and arresting dozens of mourners.

The occupation authorities further tightened restrictions in Srinagar, Badgam, Baramulla and other areas to stop people from taking out Muharram processions, today. The commercial hub of Lal Chowk and adjoining areas of Srinagar were completely sealed. The Indian troops and police personnel deployed in strength across the occupied territory had blocked main roads by laying barricades and with concertina wires. However, defying restrictions, people tried to take out Muharram processions in Srinagar and other areas. The mourners were holding banners reading slogans like “Free Kashmir”. Indian police and troops dragged and arrested dozens of mourners after subjecting the processionists to brute force at various places.

Traditionally, the procession of 8th day of Muharram in Srinagar would commence from Shaheed Gunj area, pass through MA Road and later culminate at Imam Bargah Dalgate. However, during the past 31 years, the authorities have not allowed the processions, fearing these turning into big anti-India rallies. »

Srinagar, August 28 (KMS): In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Indian troops in their fresh act of state terrorism martyred four Kashmiri youth in Shopian district, today.

The troops martyred the youth during a cordon and search operation in Kiloora area of the district. The operation continued till last reports came in.

Islamabad, August 28 (KMS): India is resorting to water terrorism to harm Pakistan financially and economically.

A report released by the Research Section of Kashmir Media Service, today, said India is violating all the international laws and treaties including construction of water-manipulating structures and controlled release of flood waters, which is a sheer violation of the Indus Water Treaty. It said that India always refused to fulfill its responsibility under the Advance Flood Information Agreement signed in 1989.

The report said that cunning India was violator of international laws/agreements and was leaving no stone unturned as RSS-backed Modi government was using even natural disasters as a weapon against Pakistan. Now insane India is using torrential water as a weapon to divert the world attention from the human rights abuses in IIOJK, it added. »

Srinagar, August 28 (KMS): In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the Hurriyat forum led by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq has expressed serious concern over the fresh wave of arbitrary arrests of youth in the territory.

The forum in a statement issued in Srinagar, today, said that the use of severe force and repression on mourners in this sacred month of Muharram-ul-Haram was not only unfortunate but also extremely condemnable.

It strongly condemned the teargas shelling and aerial firing on a Muharram procession in Badgam, booking of youth under several cases in Badgam and Srinagar, arrests in Batamaloo and its adjacent areas, and imposing of strict restrictions in several parts of the Kashmir Valley including Srinagar. It said that such harsh measures were in clear violation of the worldwide accepted democratic norms and principles. »

Islamabad, August 28 (KMS): A condolence meeting was held at the office of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir (APHC-AJK) chapter in Islamabad, today.

The participants of the meeting expressed profound grief and sorrow over the demise of Rafique Ahmad Dar, cousin of the Acting President of Democratic Freedom Party, Mehmood Ahmed Saghar, and a close relative of Hurriyat leader, Engineer Mehmood, and aunt of Zahoor Ahmad Sufi.

The participants of the meeting offered fateha for the departed souls and prayed to Allah Almighty to give courage to the bereaved families to bear the irreparable losses. »

Syed Ruhulllah Mehdi in a statement issued in Srinagar said that the behavior of police was unacceptable and no Muslim could tolerate that anyone should interfere in his religious affairs.

“If Police won’t shun its arrogance and don’t respect the sentiments of people, then there are other ways to deal with them,” Ruhullah said. He deplored that behavior and attitude of police was oppressive. »

The curbs were imposed in Srinagar’s areas falling under eight police stations – Batamaloo, Shaheed Gunj, Karanagar, Maisuma, Kothibagh, Shergrahi, Kralkhud and Ram Munshibagh. Concertina wires were spread on the roads to restrict the movement of vehicles and to stop people from converging on the traditional routes for joint processions on 8th day of Muharram.

Barricades were laid to block main roads in Batamaloo, Residency Road, Dalgate, Ram Munishbagh and Maisuma to prevent mourners from assembling in large numbers. »

Srinagar, August 28 (KMS): In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the Indian forces used brute force to foil the attempt of people to take out the traditional 7th Muharram procession in Srinagar city.

Hundreds of people assembled in Hassanabad Rainawari area of the city and tried to proceed from Botraj Mohalla to Kathi Darwaza, the route of traditional Muharram procession on the seventh day of the Islamic month of Muharram.

In this regard, witnesses told media men that when the mourners reached near Dharamshala Crossing, the Indian police personnel, who were deployed in strength, resorted to tear smoke shelling and baton-charge. »

Srinagar, August 28 (KMS): In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the Jammu and Kashmir Young Mens League (JKYML) has denounced harassment of the party activists by the Indian authorities.

The Chairman of Young Mens League, Imtiaz Ahmed Reeshi and Vice Chairman Zahid Ashraf, in their statements issued in Srinagar and Islamabad respectively, condemned the colonial and arbitrary methods used by the authorities against their party activists to suppress them for abandoning their pro-freedom political activities.

Calling the night raids on the residences of the cadres as immoral and tyrannical, they said that it showed the occupiers’ desperation and frustration and added that such cheap tactics could not prevent them from their just struggle for right to self-determination »

Srinagar, August 28 (KMS): In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Political Movement and APHC leader, Khawaja Firdous has said that Kashmir is a disputed territory and the United Nations resolutions are the only mechanism to resolve it by ascertaining the will of the Kashmiri people.
