India denounced for restricting religious freedoms in IIOJK » Kashmir Media Service

Srinagar, August 31 (KMS): In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Tehreek-e-Wahdat-e-Islami, a constituent of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC), has strongly condemned the use of brute force and vandalism of properties by Indian forces on Aashura processions in Srinagar and other areas.

A spokesman of the Tehreek-e-Wahdat-e-Islami in a statement issued in Srinagar said that the Narendra Modi-led fascist Indian government had deprived Kashmiris of religious freedom, among other basic freedoms and had turned Kashmir into another Karbala.

He said India has banned Muharram processions in the territory for the last 30 years but Kashmiris do not heed Indian restrictions and take to the streets without any fear to participate in the mourning processions.

The spokesman added the mourners expressed their sentiments against the illegal Indian occupation and in favour of freedom by adhering to the original philosophy of Karbala and raised voice against the Indian tyranny regardless of the bullets and pellets of Indian forces.

He said that despite all the oppression of India, the spirit of Kashmiris was strong and they would continue their struggle till they get their birthright to self-determination.
