Srinagar, September 15 (KMS): In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Indian military establishment has been unconstitutionally allotted thousands of kanals of land to settle retired military personnel and Hindu zealots in order to alter the demography of the territory.

Since the abrogation of Articles 370 and 35-A, last year, Indian Army took possession of around 200 kanals of forest land in tourist resort of Gulmarg and 400 kanals at Kachhama on Uri-Baramulla road. The residents of Kanispora area of Baramulla are being pressurized by the army establishment to transfer around 200 kanals to the Army. The army has already occupied 147 kanal of land in Hyderbaig area of Pattan, dozens of kanals of land at Kanilbagh, 50 kanals at Wushkur, 100 kanals in Kasnispora and 100 kanals at Mutemaimun Bagh in Baramulla. Similarly, 400 kanals of forest land and meadows and pastures in Kupwara, Bandipore, Srinagar, Ganderbal and other areas of the territory are being illegally allotted to the Indian Army. The Army establishment has started building apartments for retired officers, army schools and camps on the grabbed land. »

Srinagar, September 15 (KMS): Today, September 15, is observed worldwide as the International Day of Democracy to review the state of democracy in the world, but Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir continues to have no democratic rights, at all.

An analytical report released by Kashmir Media Service on the day, today, said that the present-day India, which is ruled by Narendra Modi-led fascist regime, is itself shrinking space for democratic credentials, what to speak of Jammu and Kashmir, which is occupied by New Delhi in violation of all democratic norms and international  laws.

The report says that values of freedom, respect for human rights and exercise of right to self-determination are essential elements of a democracy, but nothing such exists in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir. »

New Delhi, September 15 (KMS): A group of Delhi-based rights activists, academics and lawyers described the political activist, Umar Khalid, as “one of bravest young voices who speaks for the constitutional values” and condemned the police action against him as a ‘witch hunt’.

The group in a statement issued in New Delhi said, “It is imperative that all measures are taken to avoid any threat to his life and safety so long as he remains in the custody.” »

Srinagar, September 15 (KMS): In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Indian forces subjected photojournalist, Kamran Yousuf, along with two other journalists, to brutal torture in Pulwama district.

The journalists were covering an ongoing cordon and search operation, launched by Indian troops in Kakapora area of the district, in the morning.

Talking about the incident, Kamran Yousuf said, “Sub Divisional Police Officer Kakapora and policemen accompanying him chased me and started beating with batons.” Two other journalists were also beaten up. In a purported video of the incident, a forces’ personnel can be seen beating up Yousuf with batons as he runs on a sideway. »

Srinagar, September 15 (KMS): In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, senior Hurriyat leader, Professor Abdul Ghani Butt, visited the residence of the Chairman of Hurriyat forum, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, in Srinagar, and condoled the death of his grandmother.

Professor Abdul Ghani Butt on the occasion said the Mirwaiz family is the symbol of resistance in IIOJK. He paid glowing tributes to the Mirwaiz family for their services to the ongoing Kashmir freedom movement. »

Srinagar, September 15 (KMS): Hurriyat leaders and organizations have expressed pro-found grief over the demise of wife of Amir Hamza, the jailed Secretary General of Teherak-e- Hurriyat Jammu and Kashmir.

Hurriyat leaders including Molvi Bashir Ahmad, Shabbir Dar, Bilal Sidiqui, Muhammad Iqbal Mir, Ghulam Muhammad Khan Sopori, Zamrooda Habib, Yasmeen Raja, Umar Aadil Dar, Muhammad Yousuf Naqash, Muhammad Ashraf Laya, Firdous Ahmad Shah, Jehangir Ghani Butt and Islami Tanzeem-e-Azadi in their separate statements in Srinagar offered heartfelt condolences and deep sympathies to TeH General Secretary Amir Hamza on demise of his better half who passed away in Srinagar. They prayed for the evaluation of departed soul and for the patience of Amir Hamza and his family. »

United Nations, September 15 (KMS): Ignoring India’s efforts to remove the 72-year old issue from the UN Security Council’s agenda for this year, the annual meetings of the World Body began in New York on Monday with Kashmir on the agenda as an unresolved dispute.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the UN Security Council’s Resolution 47, which calls for a peaceful resolution of the Kashmir dispute, was adopted on April 21, 1948. »

Srinagar, September 15 (KMS): In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, two Indian troops were injured in an attack in Pulwama district, today.

The two Indian army soldiers were injured when Indian troops launched a cordon and search operation in Marvel area of the district. The operation continued till last reports came in.

Srinagar, September 15 (KMS): The UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Michelle Bachelet, has expressed concern over the situation in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir saying that Government of India’s August 5 move followed by domicile laws are generating deep anxiety among the people across Jammu and Kashmir.

In her inaugural statement at the 45th session of the UN Human Rights Council on Monday, Michelle Bachelet said that in IIOJK, incidents of military and police violence against civilians including use of pellet guns continued.
