Srinagar, October 16 (KMS): In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Indian troops arrested seven innocent Kashmiri youth during cordon and search operation in Srinagar and Badgam areas, today.
The troops arrested six during search operations in different areas of Srinagar and another from Chadoora area of Badgam district. The troops labeled the youth arrested from Srinagar as over-ground workers of mujahid organizations and the one arrested from Chadoora as a militant.
In IIOJK, it is a routine matter that Indian troops arrest innocent youth from their homes and roads and kill them in fake encounters after dubbing them as militants. The latest example of this phenomenon was the extrajudicial killing of three youth by the troops in Amshipora area of Shopian in July this year.
On July 18, Indian Army had claimed of killing three ‘unidentified militants’ in Amshipora area of Shopian. However, the youth later proved to be three labourers, Imtiyaz Ahmed, Abrar Ahmed and Muhammad Ibrar from Rajouri who had gone to the Kashmir Valley in search of work. Their bodies were exhumed and handed over to their families at Gantamulla in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
On September 18, in a brief statement, the Indian Army had admitted that during the Shopian operation powers vested under the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) were exceeded and the Do’s and Don’ts of Chief of Army Staff as approved by the Supreme Court had been contravened.
