London, October 30 (KMS): London-based Amnesty International has said that the Indian government must immediately halt its intensifying suppression of dissent in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

The Amnesty International said this in a statement released on its website following a series of raids by India’s National Investigation Agency on the homes and premises of civil society groups, human rights defenders and journalists in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and on Wednesday and Thursday.

The NIA raided the residences and offices of prominent human rights activists Khurram Parvez, the Coordinator of Jammu and Kashmir Coalition of Civil Society (JKCCS), three of his associates, and Parveena Ahanger, Chairperson of the Association of Parents of Disappeared Persons (APDP). Both organizations have reported extensively on human rights abuses in IIOJK, including the indefinite administrative detention and extrajudicial execution of human rights defenders, torture of people in detention and the widespread impunity of the Indian forces in the occupied territory. Further raids were carried out on the offices of the NGOs Athrout and GK Trust and on the residence of Agence France-Presse’s Kashmir correspondent Parvez Bukhari and residences of Hurriyat leaders Zafar Akbar Butt and Muhammad Yousuf Sofi. »

Islamabad, October 30 (KMS): An anti-India protest demonstration was held under the auspices of All Parties Hurriyat Conference Azad Jammu and Kashmir (APHC-AJK) chapter in front of National Press Club, Islamabad, today.

The demonstrators strongly condemned the granting of domicile certificates of IIOJK by the Indian government to Indians to change the demography of the territory and described it violation of the United Nations resolutions.

The speakers addressing the protesters deplored that Modi-led fascist Indian government was hell bent upon changing the Muslim majority of IIOJK into a minority but the Kashmiri people would never allow it to succeed in its nefarious designs. »

Srinagar, October 30 (KMS): In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, people staged forceful demonstrations, today, to register protest against India’s moves to change the demography of the territory and against the blasphemous caricatures issued by a French magazine.

As the Juma prayers culminated, people took out processions of Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH) in Srinagar, Badgam, Ganderbal, Islamabad, Pulwama, Shopian, Kulgam, Baramulla, Kupwara and other areas. They raised high-pitched pro-freedom, pro-Islam and anti-India slogans. The occupation authorities disallowed the people to hold night prayers at Hazratbal shrine, last night, in connection with Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH).

On the other hand, complete shutdown will be observed, tomorrow, against Modi government’s plans to convert Muslim majority into a minority by allowing Indian citizens to get settled in the territory. Call for the shutdown has been given by the All Parties Hurriyat Conference and Hurriyat forum led by Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and supported by other pro-freedom organizations. Pertinently, Modi regime has imposed new laws in IIOJK that allow the Indian citizens to own land in the occupied territory. »

Urges India to stop unlawful operations against Kashmiri, other rights groups

New York, October 30 (KMS): New York-based rights watchdog, Human Rights Watch has said that the Indian government is using counterterrorism operations to silence peaceful dissenters, human rights activists, and journalists.

The HRW in a statement posted on its website, today, said that on October 28 and 29, 2020, the Indian National Investigation Agency carried out several raids on the offices of nongovernmental organizations, rights activists’ homes, and a newspaper office in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Delhi, and Bangalore. It said, the raids are part of a crackdown by the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party on civil society groups.

The statement said, the Indian authorities have increasingly brought politically motivated criminal cases, including under broadly worded terrorism and sedition laws, against activists, journalists, academics, students, and others and used foreign funding regulations to target outspoken groups for their human rights work. »

Anjuman Shari Shian starts series of Seerat programmes

Srinagar, October 30 (KMS): In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) has condemned the recent caricatures of Prophet Muhammad (SAW) followed by the derogatory comments of French President, Emmanuel Macron.

The JKLF spokesman in a statement issued in Srinagar termed the cartoons as part of larger conspiracy to promote hatred and violence in human society. He said, though individual acts of violence and killings in response to these cartoons are regrettable but the rulers who defend disrespectful cartoons in the name of open society and freedom of speech are actually promoting devoid among the societies. »
