JKSM hosts reception in honour of KORT Chairman in Muzaffarabad » Kashmir Media Service

Muzaffarabad, November 20 (KMS): Jammu and Kashmir Salvation Movement (JKSM) hosted a reception in the honour of the Kashmir Orphan Relief Trust (KORT) Chairman, Chaudhry Muhammad Akhtar, in Muzaffarabad.

Addressing on the occasion, Chaudhry Muhammad Akhtar said that his organization would not leave the victims of Indian aggression across the Line of Control alone and would use all its resources to rehabilitate and resettle the victims of the firing by the Indian occupying forces.

He said that KORT had started its service journey in Azad Jammu and Kashmir after the 2005 earthquake and would continue to do so with the help of philanthropists. He said last week’s Indian unprovoked aggression on innocent civilians and the destruction of their homes across the LoC was painful for us. “But KORT appealed online in the spirit of its tradition and service, and in just 36 hours we had to close the appeal because we got all the money we wanted for the rehabilitation of the LoC victims. It is a testament to how much people trust KORT,” he said.

He said, every citizen affected by the Indian firing will be provided Rs. 250,000 in cash, 25 galvanized sheets and rations per family for house construction and KORT will rebuild the damaged hospitals, schools and mosques.

Addressing the reception, the JKSM Chairman, Altaf Ahmed Butt, said the KORT is a shelter for the helpless and orphans. Whether it was the earthquake of 2005 or the floods of 2010, the earthquake of Mirpur or the firing on unarmed civilians across the LoC by the Indian occupational forces, KORT always put itself forward to serve the victims, he .

Farhat Ali Mir, Additional Chief Secretary-General and Chairman CBR Azad Kashmir, said that the reception was proof that Chaudhry Akhtar was doing a great job. He said that the love shown by Altaf Ahmed Butt with KORT is valuable to all of us.

Member Legislative Assembly and Secretary-General of PTI, Abdul Majid Khan, said the services of KORT are a source of pride for the people of Kashmir and we assure Chaudhry Akhtar that PTI will continue to support him in all respects.

Shafiq Butt said that KORT has always helped the helpless and needy people in Azad Kashmir now it will also help them in every possible way.

Sardar Zulfiqar, a senior journalist and vice-chairman of the Press Foundation, said the mission that Altaf Butt and Chaudhry Akhtar are pursuing is a prophetic mission. Every citizen of Azad Kashmir will fully support them in their welfare work.
