Srinagar, January 05 (KMS): Kashmiris on both sides of the Line of Control and the world over observed the Right to Self-Determination Day, today, with the pledge that they would continue the struggle for settlement of the Kashmir dispute through a free and fair plebiscite under the auspices of the United Nations.

It was on this day in 1949 when the United Nations Security Council passed a resolution supporting the Kashmiris’ right to decide their future by themselves through UN-sponsored referendum. The day was marked by various activities including rallies, seminars and conferences in Azad Kashmir, Pakistan and across the world to seek the intervention by the international community to save the Kashmiris from extermination by the fascist Modi regime. »

Islamabad, January 05 (KMS): An exhibition of rare pictures went on display in Islamabad’s mega shopping mall on Tuesday to mark the 72nd anniversary of the UN resolution on Kashmir plebiscite.

The exhibition contains rare photos from the UN Library in New York City that depict the early years of international diplomacy on Kashmir. The exhibitition was organized by YFK (Youth Forum For Kashmir) – International Kashmir Lobby Group, an INGO working with the international community on conflict resolution and human rights. »

Islamabad, January 05 (KMS): Pakistan has strongly condemned the latest extra-judicial killing of three Kashmiri youth by Indian troops in Srinagar on 29 December last year.

In a statement, Foreign Office Spokesperson Zahid Hafeez Chaudhri said the families and neighbours of the martyred Kashmiris have affirmed that the young boys were innocent, who visited Srinagar on the fateful day and became victims of Indian state terrorism. »

Islamabad, January 05 (KMS): Chairman Kashmir Committee Shehryar Afridi has reaffirmed that the entire Pakistani nation stands by their Kashmiri brethren until they achieve their right to self-determination.

Addressing a seminar in connection with Kashmiris’ Right to Self-Determination Day in Islamabad, today (Tuesday), he said we all are united for the Kashmir cause.

Shehryar Afridi said Pakistan will continue its moral, diplomatic and political support to the Kashmir cause. »

Islamabad, January 05 (KMS): The international community has widely rejected India’s attempts to alter the disputed status of the Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), said Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi here.

In his message on ‘Right to Self Determination Day’ being observed throughout Azad Jammu and Kashmir today, he said the right to self determination is the fundamental objective of Kashmiris and they would continue their struggle till the achievement of this goal. United Nations, January 05 (KMS): Pakistan has reacted to some tall claims made by India about its role in international affairs in a video released Sunday timed with New Delhi’s assumption of a non-permanent seat on the Security Council, saying it stands in violations of the 15-member body’s resolutions and UN Charter principles.

“It’s true colours will be revealed during its 2-year tenure on the Security Council,” Ambassador Munir Akram said of India, when asked by media to comment on its assertion that India was a voice of reason and votary of international law. »

Islamabad, January 05 (KMS):Baluchistan Parliamentary Secretary for Information Bushra Rind has said that India was behind the terror incident and involved in the killing of 11 coal miners in Mach area of Baluchistan.

While holding a press conference here at the National Press Club, she said “All our sympathies are with the Hazara community and especially with the bereaved families of coal miners of Mach incident.”

Condemning the attack, she said that anti-national elements wanted to vitiate the law and order situation in the province. »

The people of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir have been facing the worst kind of Indian state terrorism for challenging its illegal occupation of their soil for the past over 73 years. Unfortunately, the international community has failed to fulfill its obligations towards resolving the Kashmir dispute in accordance with the Kashmiris’ aspirations. Even the world’s august body, the United Nations Security Council, has not been able to implement its resolutions on Kashmir passed several decades ago.

The UNSC had adopted an important resolution on January 05, 1949, acknowledging the right to self-determination of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. Kashmiris on both sides of the Line of Control and the world over observe the Right to Self-determination Day on January 05 to remind the world community that the United Nations’ resolutions on Kashmir remain unimplemented even after the passage of more than seven decades. »
