Glowing tributes paid to 6 Jan 1993 Sopore massacre victims

Srinagar, January 06 (KMS): In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Hurriyat leaders and organizations while paying glowing tributes to the victims of Sopore massacre on their 28th martyrdom anniversary, today, have said that the deteriorating situation in the territory warrants an international initiative on Kashmir.

Over 60 civilians were martyred and more than 350 shops and other structures including residential houses were gutted on this day in 1993 after Indian soldiers set the Sopore town ablaze. The victim families are still awaiting justice while the perpetrators of this heinous crime are roaming free. »

Islamabad, January 06 (KMS): Member of International Alliance for the Defence of Rights and Freedoms, Andy Vermaut, has termed the detention of Kashmiri Hurriyat leader, Aasiya Andrabi, in Indian Jail as ‘illegal & inhuman’ as the arrest was made under false charges and draconian laws.

In a video message, he asked the Indian government to immediately release Aasiya Andrabi and withdraw all the fabricated charges against her, Radio Pakistan reported. He added that she must be provided full legal protection. »

Islamabad, January 06 (KMS): Speakers at a seminar hosted by Kashmir Institute of International Relations (KIIR) in Islamabad made a passionate appeal to the UN Security Council to implement its resolutions that guaranteed right to self-determination to the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

Held in connection with Right to self-Determination Day on Tuesday, the seminar titled “Denial of Right to Self-Determination & BJP’s Hindu Conquest of Kashmir” was attended and addressed by prominent rights activists, academicians, former diplomats, law experts and Kashmiri leaders hailing from both sides of the Line of Control (LoC). The speakers included MNA Ms Noureen Farooq Abrahim Khan, JI leader Abdul Rashid Turabi, Pakistan Peoples Party AJK President Chaudhry Abdul Lateef Akbar, Syed Muhammad Ali Director Centre for Aerospace Security Studies (CASS), Prof Dr Muhammad Khan, Dr Owais Wasi, Dr Qaisir Raja, Syed Faiz Naqashbandi, Muhammad Ahmed Saghar and Advocate Parveez Shah. The event was chaired by KIIR Chairman, Altaf Hussain Wani, while Chairman Kashmir Committee Shaheryar Khan Afridi was chief guest but due to ill health could not speak. »

London, January 06 (KMS): Kashmiri leaders, Barrister Abdul Majeed Tramboo and Professor Nazir Ahmed Shawl, have urged the UN to implement its resolutions on Jammu and Kashmir.

Barrister Abdul Majeed Tramboo and Professor Nazir Ahmed Shawl in a statement issued from London said that the deteriorating situation in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir asked for an international initiative on Kashmir. They maintained that the UN needed to launch its preventive diplomacy to bring to an end the massive human rights violations by Indian troops in IIOJK as the Kashmiris’ demand was the exercise of their right to self-determination. »

Ottawa (Canada), January 06 (KMS): Pakistan’s High Commissioner to Canada Raza Bashir Tarar has said that any conflagration in the Kashmir region disturb the global peace.

The high commissioner said this in an interview with a Canadian Television.

Raza Bashir Tarar said that India’s revocation of the status of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) and a consistent denial of Kashmiris’ Right to Self-determination are manifestation of an Indian game-plan that dovetails into a larger Hindu supremacist ideology. »

Srinagar, January 06 (KMS): In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, an officer of Indian paramilitary Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) Sub Inspector was killed after a shed collapsed due to snowfall in Hazratbal area of Srinagar.

The CRPF Sub Inspector identified as H C Murmu was immediately taken to Soura Institute of Medical Sciences, where Medical Superintendent of hospital, Dr Farooq Jan, said that the CRPF officer was brought dead. »

Islamabad, January 06 (KMS): The Convener of AJK chapter of Mirwaiz Umar Farooq-led Hurriyat forum, Syed Faiz Naqashbandi, has said that India with all its government machinery is suppressing the people of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

Syed Faiz Naqashbandi in a statement issued in Islamabad said, Indian troops enjoying impunity under black laws are framing innocent Kashmiri people in false cases, torturing and murdering them in fake encounters. This situation has resulted in surge in human rights abuses in IIOJK, he said. »
