Islamabad, January 28 (KMS): Senate Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs in its meeting held here at Parliament House discussed continued human rights violations in the Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) and challenges of regional peace.

Foreign Minister Makhdoom Shah Mahmood Qureshi said this while talking to media-persons here after the meeting.

He said the Committee also discussed the maltreatment met out with Mohtarma Asia Andrabi, her husband and their colleagues by India. Mohtarma Mashal Malik, wife of Yaseen Malik and Kashmiri leader Raja Nijabat also attended the meeting, he added. »

Srinagar, January 27 (KMS): In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, complete shutdown is being observed in Kupwara town, today, to remember the victims of a deadly massacre carried out by Indian troops in 1994.

All shops and other business establishments are closed in the town while traffic is off the road.

Meanwhile, people are visiting the Martyrs Graveyard in the town and offering prayers for the victims of the massacre and other Kashmiri martyrs. »

Srinagar, January 27 (KMS): In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, one Indian soldier was killed and three others were injured in an attack in Kulgam district, today.

Unidentified gunmen lobbed a grenade at Indian Army’s Road Opening Party (ROP) near Shamshipora on Srinagar-Jammu highway in the district resulting in the injuring of four troops. The injured troops were shifted to military hospital in Srinagar for treatment where one of them succumbed to his injuries. »

Srinagar, January 27 (KMS): In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Hurriyat leaders and organizations have paid glowing tributes to the victims of Kupwara massacre on their 27 martyrdom anniversary, today.

In a statement issued in Srinagar, senior Hurriyat leader Ghulam Muhammad Khan Sopori deplored that the Indian forces involved in the massacre had not been punished till date. He appealed to the international human rights organizations to fulfill their responsibilities in this regard. Khan Sopori said that the great sacrifices of the martyrs would not be allowed to go in vain and the peaceful struggle would continue at all costs. »

Srinagar, January 27 (KMS): In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, a youth injured in the firing of unidentified gunmen succumbed to his injuries at a hospital in Srinagar.

The 24-year-old youth, Nadif Hanif, was shot at and injured by unknown gunmen in Soura area of Srinagar in December 2020. He was admitted to the Soura Institute of Medical Sciences in Srinagar where he succumbed to his injuries, today. »

Says MP Sharma’s complaint to BBC has no merit

London, January 27 (KMS): The President of Jammu and Kashmir Council for Human Rights (JKCHR), Dr Syed Nazir Gilani, has ripped apart the assertions made by the British Member of Parliament, Virendra Sharma, of Indian origin, in the form of complaint to Director General in respect of BBC’s position on the status of Jammu and Kashmir.

Dr Syed Nazir Gilani in a letter to Tim Davie, Director General British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) while acknowledging the support given by BBC in its news and programmes to the rights movement of the people of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, said MP Sharma who is Chair of Indo-British All-Party Parliamentary Group, does not qualify as an expert and his complaint has no merit. »

Srinagar, January 27 (KMS): In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Ghulam Muhammad Masoodi, son of Late Ali Sahab Masoodi (Pampori) has passed away after a brief spell of illness this evening.

Ghulam Muhammad Masoodi was the relative of Grand Mufti, Nasir-ul-Islam.

His Nimaz-e-Jinazah will be offered at 10:30am tomorrow at Rawalpora, Srinagar. He will be laid to rest at his ancestral graveyard near historic Srinagar Jamia Masjid. »
