No end to human rights violations in sight

Srinagar, February 14 (KMS): In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the All Parties Hurriyat Conference has said that India continues to take the entire Kashmiri population hostage over the past seven decades for demanding the universally accepted right to self-determination.

APHC General Secretary Molvi Bashir Ahmad in a statement issued in Srinagar said that New Delhi had, so far, martyred tens of thousands of Kashmiris to deprive them of this basic right and to hold its illegal occupation over Jammu and Kashmir. He said that innocent youth are martyred, arrested, tortured and houses and infrastructures are destroyed during cordon and search operations carried out by Indian troops in the territory. He pointed out that fascist Modi-led Indian government has intensified its colonial approach towards the Kashmiri people particularly after revocation of the special status of Jammu and Kashmir on August 5, 2019. »

Srinagar, February 14 (KMS): In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, National Conference Vice President Omar Abdullah on Sunday was put under house arrest along with his family, including his father Farooq Abdullah by the Indian authorities in Srinagar.

Reacting to the house detention, Omar Abdullah wrote on Twitter: “This is the “naya/new J&K after Aug 2019. We get locked up in our homes with no explanation. It’s bad enough; they’ve locked my father and & me in our home; they’ve locked my sister and her kids in their home as well.” »

Srinagar, February 14 (KMS): In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) General Secretary, Molvi Bashir Ahmad has said that India has occupied the territory at gunpoint and has held the people of the territory hostage since long.

Molvi Bashir Ahmad in a statement issued in Srinagar said that the Kashmiris were only demanding their birthright to self-determination but India had deprived them of their right. He added that India had martyred lakhs of Kashmiris and desecrated thousands of women over the last seven decades. It is a common practice to kidnap young men and then martyr them in fake encounters, he deplored. »

Srinagar, February 14 (KMS): In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Shabbir Ahmad Dar, the Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Muslim Conference, has expressed the hope that new US President Joe Biden would address the question of the right of self-determination on priority basis during his term in office as the US President.

Shabbir Ahmad Dar in a letter to President Joe Biden also hoped that he would encourage the leaders of India and Pakistan to honour the title of the people of Jammu and Kashmir to self-determination. »

Srinagar, February 14 (KMS): In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, APHC leader and the Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Political Movement (DPM), Khawaja Firdous has said that India is once again trying to mislead the international community by sending selected diplomats to the territory under the supervision of military.

Khawaja Firdous in a statement issued in Srinagar said, if India wants the international community to be really aware of the real situation in IIOJK, then these diplomats should be allowed to meet the people of Kashmir, including Hurriyat leaders, without any military intervention. »

Says people of Kashmir totally alienated from New Delhi

Srinagar, February 14 (KMS): An independent body of concerned citizens in its latest report on the rights situation in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir has said that most violations continued in the territory even after 18 months of abrogation of the special status.

The Forum for Human Rights in Jammu and Kashmir, co-chaired by former Indian Supreme Court judge, Justice Madan B. Lokur and former Kashmir interlocutor, Radha Kumar, in its latest report, said, “This is the second report of the Forum and covers the period from August 2020 to January 2021. Sadly, most of the violations remain even 18 months after the imposition of a lockdown on Jammu and Kashmir”.

It pointed out that arbitrary detentions continue, public assembly is still prohibited under Section 144 and hundreds, including minors and several elected legislators of the territory, remain under detention. The report covers the period from August 2020 to January 2021. »

Srinagar, February 14 (KMS): In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the Chairman of Islami Tanzeem-e-Azadi, Abdul Samad Inqilabi has expressed concern over the plight of illegally detained Hurriyat leaders and activists lodged in different jails of India and the territory.

Abdul Samad Inqilabi in a statement issued in Srinagar deplored that even the basic human rights of the prisoners are not available to them. He added that the prisoners were being deprived of medical treatment. »

Srinagar, February 14 (KMS): In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the Peoples Democratic Party President, Mehbooba Mufti has said that she was placed under house arrest ahead of her visit to the family of Athar Mushtaq, one of the three youth killed in a fake encounter in Lawaypora area of Srinagar, in December last year.

Mehbooba Mufti in her tweet said, “Placed under house arrest as usual for trying to visit the family of Athar Mushtaq killed in a fake encounter. His father was booked under Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) for demanding his body. This is the normalcy GOI wants to showcase to the EU delegation visiting Kashmir.” »

Karachi, February 14 (KMS): The President of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Sardar Masood Khan has stressed that peace and stability in the region cannot prevail without cessation of genocide and crimes against humanity in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

Sardar Masood Khan addressing the 9th International Maritime Conference in Karachi said, it is the moral obligation of everyone to raise voice to save the Kashmiri people from the scourge of impending annihilation en-mass.

He called upon the international community to come out to stop the illicit transfer of millions of Indian Hindus to the disputed territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
