India is not a free nation, says US report

Srinagar, March 04 (KMS): In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, in successive incidents of suicides; another Indian soldier claimed his life in Srinagar, today, raising the toll to three in the past two days in the territory.

The soldier identified as Anup Kumar took his life by hanging himself at Badami Bagh Cantonment in Srinagar, today. Earlier, Lieutenant Colonel Sudeep Bhagat and a soldier committed suicide in Srinagar and Rajouri, yesterday. These incidents have raised the number of such deaths among Indian troops and police personnel in the occupied territory to 493 since January 2007. »

Srinagar, March 04 (KMS): In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, restrictions on the movement of Hurriyat forum Chairman, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq have been eased after almost 20 months.

The Mirwaiz is expected to deliver Friday sermon at historic Jamia Masjid in Srinagar, tomorrow, after 82 weeks.

Mirwaiz was placed under house detention on August 4, 2019 a day before the Modi-led fascist Indian government repealed the Kashmir’s special status and imposed military siege in the territory. »

Washington, March 04 (KMS): US-based Freedom House, in its 2021 report, has said that India’s status as a free country has changed to ‘partly free’ because Narendra Modi govt is tragically driving the country towards authoritarianism.

The US government funded non-governmental organisation’s annual report mentioned that political rights and civil liberties in India have deteriorated since Modi became Prime Minister in 2014. »

Haryana, India, March 04 (KMS): A Kashmiri youth has been found dead in the Indian state of Haryana.

The youth, Aqib Rashid, a resident of Srinagar, was found dead inside his room in Gurugram in Haryana.

The family members of the deceased, talking to media men, said that he was murdered in his room. “Kashmiri youth are not safe anywhere, he has been murdered by goons out there for merely being a Kashmiri,” his father told the media. »

Jammu, March 04 (KMS): In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Association (JKPA) has expressed concern over the plight of illegally detained Hurriyat leaders and activists languishing in different jails of India and the territory.

JKPA Chairman Aquib Wani in a statement issued in Jammu said that many Kashmiri political detainees were suffering from life-threatening ailments and poor health care in jails could damage their health and they must be released on humanitarian grounds.

He further said that prolonged detention of Kashmiri prisoners indicated that there was no room for dissent in the territory and things were far away from normalcy as being claimed by New Delhi. »

Jammu, March 04 (KMS): In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, various Sikh organizations have demanded release of detained supporters of Kissan Movement.

The demand was made in a meeting held in Jammu under chairmanship of Sudarshan Singh Wazir. Addressing the meeting, Wazir condemned the action of Delhi police who arrested two supporters of Kissan Movement from Jammu and many others from Indian states and put them in Tihar Jail, New Delhi.

He appealed to the Indian government for early release of the arrested persons. »

Srinagar, March 04 (KMS): In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC) has taken a strong exception to the announcement of the Indian Minority Affairs minister on setting up of two separate Waqf Boards for Sunni and Shia sects in Kashmir and Ladakh.

The NC spokesman in a statement issued in Srinagar termed the measure unacceptable and gross interference in the religious affairs of the Muslim community. The move will create further discontent among people, he added. »

Srinagar, March 04 (KMS): In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the Chairman of International Forum for Justice Human Rights Jammu and Kashmir Mohammad Ahsan Untoo has said that soon after India repealed the special status of the territory on August 05, 2019, thousands of people were arrested by the Indian authorities to repress the people so that they do not voice their opposition to the illegal move.
