Canberra, March 08 (KMS): Former Australian Senator Lee Rhiannon in her message on the International Women Day has said that the idea of IWD 2021 should speak for the Kashmiri women’s demand for self-determination.

Senator Lee Rhiannon in her video message on the occasion urged the world to mark International Women’s Day 2021 by standing with Kashmiri women. “The need is to expose the crimes against Kashmiri women on International Women’s Day 2021,” she added.

Since 1990, around 10,000 Kashmiri women have been raped and 27,000 have been made half-widows. »

Srinagar, March 07 (KMS): In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the Working Vice Chairman of the All Parties Hurriyat Conference, Ghulam Ahmad Gulzar has said that settlement of the Kashmir dispute is imperative for regional peace, progress and prosperity.

Ghulam Ahmad Gulzar in a statement issued in Srinagar said that amicable resolution of the lingering dispute was in the larger interest of the people living in the South Asian region and particularly the people of Kashmir living under the worst subjugation of India. »

Srinagar, March 07 (KMS): Indian police arrested an Assistant Professor Dr Abdul Bari under draconian law Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) at Government Degree College Udhampur, Jammu.

Talking to the media, Dr. Abdul Bari Naik’s brother Rauf Naik confirmed his arrest, saying, “He was arrested from the college on Saturday at 11 am.”

Bari, an unidentified official told a local news portal, has been booked in an old case. “He was wanted in an FIR, but he had been evading arrest since then,” he said. The official said that Dr. Bari, who was posted recently at the Udhampur Degree College, was picked by police from the district. »

Srinagar, March 07 (KMS): Legal experts have said that Modi-led fascist Indian government is using sedition law as a weapon to stifle dissent in illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir and inside India.

The experts in their media interviews said that colonial-era sedition law is used as an intimidation tactic in Modi’s India.

They pointed out that charges under sedition against Kashmiri Hurriyat leaders have seen sharp rise since BJP attained power in India. Citing the data, the legal experts stressed that India has witnessed 28 percent increase in the number of sedition cases between 2014 and 2020.

Kashmiri leaders who are facing the sedition charge for allegedly waging a war against India include Syed Ali  Gilani, Muhammad Yasin Malik, Shabbir Ahmad Shah, Masarrat Aalam Butt, Aasiya Andrabi, Fahmeeda Sofi, Naheeda Nasreen, Bashir Ahmad Butt alias Peer Saifullah, Businessman Zahoor Ahmad Watali, Nayeem Ahmad Khan,  Farooq Ahmad Dar alias Bitta Karate, Mohammad Akbar Khanday alias Aiyaz Akbar,  Raja Merajuddin Kalwal, Altaf Ahmad Shah, Aftab Ahmad Shah alias Shahidul Islam, Syed Shakeel Yusuf,  Syed Shahid Yusuf and journalist Asif Sultan. »

Washington, March 07 (KMS): The speakers have demanded the immediate release of Hurriyat leader, Masarrat Aalam Butt and other Kashmiri political leaders and activists languishing in different jails of India and illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

The Secretary General of World Kashmir Awareness Forum, Dr. Ghulam Nabi Fai addressing a meeting in Washington said, “Masarrat Aalam Butt, an alumnus of a prestigious missionary Tyndale Biscoe School, is one of the most recognizable Kashmiri youth leaders. He has been detained dozens of times for advocating the right of self-determination of the people of Kashmir. Masarat is a political prisoner who has spent 24 years in Indian jails. He is 48. He is in jail not because he is guilty of a crime – though he has been charged with a miscellany of offenses under arbitrarily drawn and enforced regulations – but because he believes that the people of Kashmir should be free to decide their own future in accordance with the pledge extended to them under the authority of the United Nations Security Council.” »

Kolkata, March 07 (KMS): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader, Suvendu Adhikari, has said that West Bengal will turn into Kashmir if Trinamool Congress (TMC) comes back to power.

Speaking at a rally in Muchipara, Behala, BJP leader Adhikari who is contesting against West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee at Nandigram seat in the upcoming Assembly polls said, “If Jana Sangh founder, Shyama Prasad Mukherjee was not there, this country would have been an Islamic country and we would be living in Bangladesh. If they (TMC) came back to power, West Bengal will become Kashmir.” »

Srinagar, March 07 (KMS): In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, a light intensity earthquake occurred on Sunday but no report of any casualty or damage to property was received from anywhere so far.

Officials of the disaster management authority in Srinagar said, an earthquake measuring 2.9 on the Richter scale occurred at 4.40am on Sunday whose coordinates are latitude 33.0 degrees north and longitude 75.86 degrees east. »

Islamabad, March 07 (KMS): The Vice Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Mass Movement (JKMM), Abdul Majeed Mir has said that the Indian atrocities on the people of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir cannot suppress their freedom sentiment.

Abdul Majeed Mir in a statement issued in Islamabad said that hate among the people of IIOJK, especially in the youth, is increasing against India’s military occupation.

He condemned the Indian conspiracy to turn Muslim majority status of the territory into a minority and said that the Kashmiri people would leave no stone unturned for securing their right to self-determination and would take the ongoing liberation movement to its logical conclusion at all costs. »

Srinagar, March 07 (KMS): In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the Jammu and Kashmir Youth Social Forum (JKYSF) has urged India to immediately release all Kashmiri political detainees and resolve the Kashmir dispute as per the United Nations resolutions.

The JKYSF in a party meeting in Pulwama said that Kashmir was an internationally recognized disputed territory and the United Nations in its resolutions had promised right to self determination to the people of Kashmir. »

Srinagar, March 07 (KMS): In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has said that the Enforcement Directorate summons to its president Mehbooba Mufti is part of the India’s vindictive politics, asserting such tactics will not dampen the people’s will to struggle for their rights.

Party leader, Ghulam Nabi Lone Hanjura in a statement issued in Srinagar said, “The ED summons is yet another ploy to try and arm-twist the people and leadership of Kashmir, to kill dissent and disagreement and to silence the genuine demand for the restoration of statehood and special status of the territory. »
