Protesters were killed in Chittagong as Modi begins a tour for Golden Jubilee celebrations of Bangladesh’s independence.

Chittagong, March 26 (KMS): At least four people were killed in the Bangladeshi city of Chittagong after police fired at protesters during a demonstration against a visit by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, police officials said.

“We had to fire teargas and rubber bullets to disperse them as they entered a police station and carried out extensive vandalism,” Rafiqul Islam, a police official, told Reuters news agency, referring to protesters.

Modi is in Bangladesh to attend its Golden Jubilee celebrations of independence and the birth centenary of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the country’s founder and father of current Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

The protesters in Chittagong were from the Hefazat-e-Islam Bangladesh, an Islamist group opposed to the visit of Modi, who critics say has been pushing a Hindu-first agenda in India. »

Islamabad, March 26 (KMS): Foreign Minister, Shah Mahmood Qureshi, has said the international community including Britain should play effective role to get stopped blatant human rights violations in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

Talking to member of British House of Lords Lord Wajid Khan who called on him in Islamabad today, the Foreign Minister said resolution of the Kashmir dispute as per the UN Security Council resolutions is imperative for durable regional peace and stability. »

Islamabad, March 26 (KMS): Federal Minister for National Food Security and Research, Syed Fakhar Imam, has said that Pakistan will never make compromise on the Kashmir issue.

In an interview with private channels, he said Pakistan has made extensive efforts to highlight at diplomatic level the gross human rights violations being perpetrated by India in Indian illegally occupied Kashmir.

He asked India to immediately end the continuing lockdown, communications blockade and media blackout in IIOJK, and release the incarcerated Kashmiri leadership. »

Srinagar, March 26 (KMS): In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the All Parties Hurriyat Conference has said that the territory has been virtually turned into a battleground where nearly one million Indian troops have been victimizing the innocent people for demanding their inalienable right to self-determination guaranteed to them by the United Nations Security Council resolutions.

The APHC spokesman in a statement issued in Srinagar expressed deep concern over the atrocities inflicted on the people of Kashmir by the Indian occupational forces. He said the military and population ratio in the occupied territory is 1:10, the highest in the world. The presence of such a gigantic military force to suppress the civil population engaged in peaceful freedom struggle has created a frightful atmosphere and a sense of insecurity among the local populace of IIOJK. »

Muzaffarabad, March 26 (KMS): A protest demonstration was held under the auspices of Pasbaan-e-Hurriyat Jammu and Kashmir in Muzaffarabad against the Indian atrocities and state terrorism in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

The participants of the demonstration were holding banners and placards bearing slogans against India and in favour of Kashmir freedom movement. They were also raising high-pitched slogans against the Modi-led fascist Indian government. »

Dhaka, March 26 (KMS): A protest demonstration was held in the Bangladesh’s capital Dhaka against Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the country starting today.

Many people were injured after the demonstrators clashed with the police in Dhaka’s Motijheel. The police also detained dozens of people during the protest demonstration.

“Some 40 protesters were injured, including 18 hospitalised with injuries from police beatings and rubber bullets,” Bin Yamin Molla, a senior official of the Student Rights Council, which organised the protest, told media. »

Srinagar, March 26 (KMS): In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Indian troops arrested several youth during violent cordon and search operations in Srinagar.

The troops launched house to house search operations in different areas of the Srinagar city after two Indian paramilitary troops including a Sub Inspector GD Manga Deb Barman and a Constable were killed in an attack at Lawaypora on the outskirts of Srinagar, yesterday. »

New Delhi, March 26 (KMS): Indian National Congress leader, Rahul Gandhi, has said that it is not right to call the RSS and its associated groups ‘Sangh Parivar’ as a family has women, respect for elders, compassion and affection, and the organisation has none of these.

Rahul Gandhi’s remarks come a day after he said the harassment of nuns belonging to a Kerala-based congregation in Uttar Pradesh was a result of the Sangh Parivar’s vicious propaganda to pitch one community against another and trample on minorities. »

Patharpratima (WB), March 26 (KMS): The Chief Minister of India’s West Bengal state, Mamata Banerjee has said that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is backing a newly formed party to ensure that it divides the minority votes to its benefit.

Mamata Banerjee, speaking at a rally at Patharpratima in Paraganas district, without naming any party or any person, also said the founder of that outfit receives money from the BJP. Mamata Banerjee is apparently referring to the Indian Secular Front (ISF). »
