Anti-India protest rally held at Athmuqam

Neelum Valley (AJK), April 08 (KMS): A protest rally was organized, today, under the aegis of Pasban-e-Hurriyat Jammu and Kashmir at Athmuqam in Neelum Valley, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, against the killing of youth and other human rights violations by Indian troops in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

The rally, taken out from Bantal Chowk Athmuqam to Lorry Adda, was led by President of Pasban-e-Hurriyat, Neelum Valley, Sharafat Hussain Malik, Waqar Hussain, Muhammad Aimal Farzam, Muhammad Fayyaz Khan and others. The protesters on the occasion chanted slogans such as “Go India Go Back”, “We Want Freedom” and “Our Blood Will Bring Revolution”.

They were also holding banners and placards seeking attention of the international community and raised high-pitched anti-India slogans.

Addressing the rally, political, religious and social leaders said, the people of IIOJK have been waging a historic struggle against Indian state terrorism for the last over seven decades. Hundreds of thousands of Kashmiris have sacrificed their lives for freedom from Indian occupation, they maintained.

The speakers said, the world recognizes Jammu and Kashmir a disputed territory on which no party can impose any decision unilaterally. They added that India violated international norms and rules and imposed draconian laws in the territory but the Kashmiri people are not ready to accept Indian yoke under any circumstances.

They said the people of Kashmir are demanding a free, fair and impartial referendum as guaranteed by the United Nations resolutions to determine their political future.

The speakers said, the time has come for the members of UN Security Council to play their role in the just settlement of the Kashmir dispute. They also paid rich tributes to the Kashmiri martyrs who sacrificed their lives for the Kashmir cause, saying that the Kashmiris would continue their struggle till it reached its logical end.

Meanwhile, the Vice Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Mass Movement, Abdul Majeed Mir, in a statement in Islamabad expressed concern over surge in Indian state terrorism in IIOJK. He deplored that Indian troops are using lethal weapons against peaceful demonstrators in the occupied territory.

He said the morale of Kashmiri people is very high as they have continued their struggle despite Indian atrocities. He said, thousands of Kashmiris including Hurriyat leaders and activists have been put in jails, where they are being tortured physically and mentally and are being deprived of basic facilities.
