Rich tributes paid to martyred leader S. Hameed Wani » Kashmir Media Service

Islamabad, April 19 (KMS): Vice Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Young Mens League Zahid Ashraf has paid glowing tributes to the prominent freedom leader, S Hameed Wani, on his 23rd death anniversary.

Indian police had arrested S Hamid Wani on April 18, 1998 in Soura area of Srinagar and killed him in custody.

Zahid Ashraf in a statement issued in Islamabad called him a great son of soil and freedom leader and praised his services and contributions to the freedom struggle. He said S Hameed was a true revolutionary who always put freedom of his motherland before everything, fought with an extraordinary enthusiasm, faced every conceivable hardship and endured persecution at the hands of the occupational regime, but never showed any signs of weakness in his commitment to the freedom cause.

Zahid Ashraf said that he was truly one of the most wanted and hated resistance leaders for he refused to give up struggle and was the strong voice of Srinagar, the nerve centre of Kashmir liberation movement. He said that his services and sacrifices would never be forgotten by the valiant people of Kashmir.
