Alarm raised about Ashraf Sehrai’s worsening health condition

It will be extrajudicial murder if untoward happens to Sehrai

Srinagar, May 05 (KMS): Alarm has been raised through a video message sent on social media about the deteriorating health condition of illegally detained Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Jammu and Kashmir Chairman Mohammad Ashraf Sehrai.

The video sent by Dr Asif Dar, a noted Kashmiri scholar and physician, said that Ashraf Sehrai is presently on oxygen in Government Medical College Jammu and most probably he would be put on ventilator because of his extremely bad condition. He said the authorities of Udhampur Jail have not treated the ailing TeH Chairman for the last six months as a result of which his health condition deteriorated to such an extent that it is difficult to say whether he would survive or not.

He said that the Indian government as well as the IIOJK administration would be responsible if anything untoward happened to Ashraf Sehrai, adding that it would be an extrajudicial murder.

While urging the Kashmiris to wake up for the ailing Sehrai, Dr Asif Dar said that he (Sehrai) is a true soldier of Syed Ali Gilani and among the pioneers of the Kashmir freedom movement.

Pertinently, Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai was shifted to GMC, Jammu, after his health deteriorated in Udhampur Jail. He was booked under draconian law, Public Safety Act, on 12 July 2020 and then shifted to Udhampur Jail. For the last few days, he has been feeling seriously ill due to which he was taken to the district hospital Udhampur from where he was referred to GMC Jammu and currently he is admitted there.
