Srinagar, May 06 (KMS): In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the Chairman of Hurriyat forum, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, has demanded of the Indian authorities to lift restrictions on him so that he can lead the funeral prayers of senior Hurriyat leader, Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai.

Mirwaiz Umar Farooq in a statement issued in Srinagar has given a call for complete shutdown on Thursday to mourn the custodial death of the Hurriyat leader.

Srinagar, May 06 (KMS): In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the All Parties Hurriyat Conference Working Vice Chairman, Ghulam Ahmed Gulzar, has appealed to the Kashmiris to come to streets and offer Gaibana Namaz-e-Janaza of Hurriyat leader, Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai, en masse.

Ghulam Ahmed Gulzar in a statement issued in Srinagar made the same appeal to all peace and freedom loving people all across the globe. He has asked the people belonging to all segments of society including traders, lawyers, professionals and general public to attend thefuneral processions of Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai and also hold funeral prayers in absentia for the late leader everywhere. He urged the Kashmiris to come out of their homes and show their love and allegiance to Ashraf Sehrai and pay the last Salam to the great leader of Kashmiri nation. »

Islamabad, May 05 (KMS): Pakistani Foreign Ministry has said that the Government and the people of Pakistan are deeply grieved at the demise of senior All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) leader and Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Jammu and Kashmir Chairman Ashraf Sehrai in Indian custody.

The senior Kashmiri leader was arrested last year on trumped up charges under the draconian Public Safety Act in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). He remained incarcerated in Indian jail under squalid conditions despite serious deterioration of his health and the prevailing COVID-19 crisis. »

 Srinagar, May 05 (KMS): In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Hurriyat leaders and organizations have vehemently condemned the Modi-led fascist Indian government for custodial death of Tehreeke-e-Hurriyat Chairman Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai in Udhampur Jail. They said that the regime is directly responsible for his death in custody.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the All Parties Hurriyat Conference Working Vice Chairman Ghulam Ahmad Gulzar in a statement issued in Srinagar blamed the criminal negligence of the Modi regime for the death of Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai in custody. He termed it as the ruthless behaviour of the Indian Imperialism towards the freedom-loving Kashmiri leaders, imprisoned in solitude in various jails of India without medical facilities. »

Protest against anti-labour policies, workers to conduct strike on Nov 26 - The Live NagpurSrinagar, May 05 (KMS): In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir,
the All Parties Hurriyat Conference has called for a complete shutdown, tomorrow, in protest against the death of senior APHC leader Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai in mysterious conditions in jail.

According to Kashmir Media Service, call for the strike has been given by APHC Working Vice Chairman Ghulam Ahmad Gulzar. He appealed to the freedom-loving people to fully participate in the protest strike against the custodial killing of the senior Hurriyat leader.

Many Hurriyat groups have also appealed people to hold janazas in absentia of the deceased. Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Jammu and Kashmir asked people to janazas in absentia for Sehrai in mosques, tomorrow.  The authorities had not handed over the dead body of Sehrai to his relatives till filing of the report.

Srinagar, May 05 (KMS): In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, senior APHC leader and Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Jammu and Kashmir Chairman Mohammad Ashraf Sehrai has died in Indian custody in Jammu.

Booked under draconian Public Safety Act, Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai was on July 12, 2020 shifted to Udhampur Jail in Jammu. His condition deteriorated in jail, but was not given timely access to doctor and was only shifted, yesterday, to a hospital in Jammu where he died.

Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai was suffering from multiple diseases and was not provided with any treatment during his incarceration. His family members were kept unaware of his health condition. He was nearly 77 years old.

He all along his life worked as a lieutenant of Syed Ali Gilani, and was a member of Jamaat-e-Islami.

Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai was a staunch freedom fighter and had allowed his son Junaid Sehrai to join the ranks of armed struggle. Junaid was martyred on May 19, 2020 in Srinagar.

The detainees are systematically killed in jails by not providing them medical care, proper food, appropriate atmosphere besides being subjected to torture.

Soon after the news about the death of Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai spread, Indian police arrested many Tehreek Hurriyat activists including Ashiq Hussain Narchoor, Riyaz Ahmad Mir in Islamabad town.

Islamabad, May 05 (KMS): Foreign Minister, Shah Mahmood Qureshi, has expressed deep grief and sorrow over the demise of senior APHC leader and Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Jammu and Kashmir Chairman, Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai, in Indian custody today.

In his condolence message, he said Ashraf Sehrai made a significant contribution to the Kashmiris’ struggle for securing their right to self-determination and suffered lifelong persecution at the hands of India. »

New York, May 05 (KMS): United Nations General Assembly President, Volkan Bozkir, while reiterating that the position of the United Nations on Jammu and Kashmir is governed by the UN Charter and applicable Security Council resolutions has stressed that the status of Jammu and Kashmir should not be changed.

Addressing a news conference at the UN headquarters, he said, “I call on all parties to refrain from taking steps that could affect the status of Jammu and Kashmir.” »
