APHC concerned over plight of Kashmiri detainees in Indian jails

Srinagar, May 10 (KMS): In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the All Parties Hurriyat Conference has expressed serious concern over the plight of illegally detained Kashmiris lodged in Indian jails and the threat posed to their lives due to massive surge in coronavirus in India.

The APHC spokesman in a statement issued in strongly condemned the inhuman and barbaric attitude displayed by India towards the Kashmiri Hurriyat leaders and activists languishing in different jails of IIOJK and India. He said it is highly deplorable that the families of these Kashmiri inmates in particular and the people of the entire territory, in general, are in distress and despair about the well-being of the Kashmiri prisoners yet the Indian fascist regime is displaying its ruthless and inhuman behavior towards the detainees.

The spokesman said that Indian fascist regime is applying nefarious tactics to eliminate the Hurriyat leadership. He added that that the recent shocking custodial killing of Shaheed-e-Sadaqat, Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai, in Udhampur jail points to the fact that the people of Kashmir have genuine apprehensions in this matter. He maintained that the brazen denial of any meeting with his son and relatives shows that Ashraf Sehrai might have lost his breath in the jail and the dead body was shifted to hospital to hide this criminal negligence committed by the jail authorities.

The APHC reiterated its demand for a high level probe by an independent panel of jurists under the auspices of UN Secretary General into the custodial death of Ashraf Sehrai. “The incident has exposed the bad intentions of the Indian fascist regime to kill other prominent leaders of freedom moment languishing in Indian jails in the garb of fast spreading COVID-19 in these jails to remove the stumbling blocks in the way of changing the demography of the disputed territory of Jammu and Kashmir,” it said.

The APHC spokesman also praised the high morale of the freedom loving people of Kashmir and also the reverence and love shown by them for the martyred leader. He warned of the worst consequences of the Indian fascist and colonial approach in addition to the oppressive measures adopted by New Delhi to suppress the Kashmiris’ legitimate struggle for securing their right to self-determination. The people of Kashmir have time and again resisted the Indian aggression and have not given up their just freedom struggle, he added.

The spokesman also denounced the Israeli attack on the Palestinian devotees and showering of bullets and teargas shells on them while they were offering prayers in Masjid-e-Aqsa. He termed the Israeli action as an act of state terrorism in the broad daylight.
