Srinagar, May 20 (KMS): In illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, complete shutdown will be observed and a march will be conducted towards Mazar-e-Shuhada at Eidgah in Srinagar, tomorrow, to mark the martyrdom anniversaries of prominent Hurriyat leaders, Mirwaiz Molvi Muhammad Farooq and Khawaja Abdul Ghani Lone, as well as the martyrs of Hawal massacre.

Call for the shutdown and the march has been given by the Chairman of Hurriyat forum, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq. The All Parties Hurriyat Conference has also appealed to the people to observe complete strike, tomorrow, to pay tributes to the martyred leaders.

The agents of Indian secret agencies had shot dead Mirwaiz Molvi Muhammad Farooq after barging into his residence in Srinagar on 21st May in 1990. 70 mourners were killed in Hawal area of the city when Indian troops opened fire on the funeral procession of the martyr. Twelve years later on the same day, Khawaja Abdul Ghani Lone was also martyred by the agents of Indian agencies when he was returning from Eidgah after addressing a public gathering. »

Brussels, May 20 (KMS): The Chairman of Kashmir Council Europe (KC-EU), Ali Raza Syed, paying glowing tribute to the martyrs of Jammu and Kashmir including Mirwaiz Molvi Farooq, Khawaja Abdul Ghani Lone as well as martyrs of Hawal, said, the martyrs provided a great courage and strength to the freedom movement of Kashmir.

Ali Raza Syed said addressing a meeting of the core committee of KC-EU in Brussels in connection with the Martyrdom Week said that Kashmiri martyrs presented their life for the great cause of Kashmir. Members of the core committee of KC-EU and other like-minded personalities attended the small gathering held under the Covid-19 SOPs in the European headquarters. »

Srinagar, May 20 (KMS): In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Hurriyat leaders and organizations have paid rich tributes to prominent Hurriyat leaders, Mirwaiz Molvi Muhammad Farooq and Khawaja Abdul Ghani Lone as well as the victims of Hawal massacre on their martyrdom anniversaries.

Mirwaiz Molvi Muhammad Farooq was shot dead by the agents of Indian agencies at his residence in Srinagar on May 21 in 1990. Seventy mourners were killed when Indian troops opened indiscriminate fire on his funeral procession in Hawal area of Srinagar. Khawaja Abdul Ghani Lone was also martyred by the agents of Indian agencies when he was returning from addressing a gathering at Mazar-e-Shuhada in Srinagar on the same day in 2002. »

Srinagar, May 20 (KMS): In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has strongly condemned the abrupt hike in cordon and search operations by the Indian occupation forces in a most critical situation when people remain confined to their homes because of COVID-19 pandemic.

APHC’s incharge of Press and Information Division, Hakeem Abdul Rasheed, in a press release issued in Srinagar termed it a deliberate attempt to spread coronavirus among the people of Kashmir. He added that during the cordon and search operations people are forced to assemble in large numbers without social distancing and stand upright for hours together or stick glued to the ground without any movement. »

Srinagar, May 20 (KMS): In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Haji Mukhtar Ahmad Makhdoomi, brother-in-law of veteran Hurriyat leader, Syed Ali Gilani, passed away at a hospital in Srinagar, today.

Mukhtar Ahmad Makhdoomi, the brother of Syed Ali Gilani’s wife, breathed his last at the Srinagar’s Soura Institute of Medical Science.

Makhdoomi was born at Tujar Sharief in Sopore area o Baramulla district on April 15, 1927. He did his Matric from Lahore University with distinction. He joined Education department in 1945 and served the department till 1982. »

It came to fore during counting that at least 40 cylinders, which were to be sent back to Srinagar, were missing.

The District Health authorities, upon learning about the incident, immediately suspended three staffers at the health facility and also ordered a probe. »

Islamabad, May 20 (KMS): The Chairman of Pakistan’s Parliamentary Committee on Kashmir Shehryar Khan Afridi Thursday deplored the arrests of the close family members of prominent martyred APHC leader and Tehreek-e-Hurriyat chief Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai by the Indian polce in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir and called upon the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) and rights activists to take note of illegal arrests of close relatives of Ashraf Sehrai.
Chairing a condolence reference hosted by Parliamentary Kashmir Committee for martyred Hurriyat leaders, Mirwaiz Molvi Muhammad Farooq, Khawaja Abdul Ghani Lone, Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai and all martyrs of Kashmiri freedom struggle, Shehryar Khan Afridi urged for immediate measures to ensure release of sons and nephews of Ashraf Sehrai who were arrested without any due process. »

Islamabad, May 20 (KMS): Benjamin Netanyahu, Adolf Hitler and Narendra Modi are three persons but with a single fascist mindset.

A report released by Kashmir Media Service, today, maintained that Narendra Modi is following the line of Netanyahu in grabbing Kashmir. It said, changing demography of Jammu and Kashmir is what Israelis suggested to India. It pointed out that Shimon Peres, the then Foreign Minister of Israel, came to India in 1993 and stated that the only solution to Kashmir problem is to settle Indian Hindus in Jammu and Kashmir.

The report said Hitler carried out genocide of Jews, Netanyahu doing the same in Palestine and Narendra Modi massacring the Kashmiris. “Look at Modi you will find Netanyahu and Hitler on his face. Fascism is the common creed of the three – Hitler, Netanyahu and Modi. The Indian persecution tactics in IIOJK are the same used by Israeli in Palestine,” it said. »

Srinagar, May 20 (KMS): In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, posters have been pasted in various parts of the territory with an appeal to people to pay tribute to prominent martyred Hurriyat leaders Mirwaiz Molvi Muhammad Farooq, Khawaja Abdul Ghani Lone and martyrs of Hawal, tomorrow (Friday).

Posters, pasted by the Jammu and Kashmir Young Mens League and Youth Wing of Democratic Political Movement, have asked the Kashmiri people to make tomorrow’s strike a success to pay tributes to the Kashmiri martyrs and arrange prayer sessions for the souls of the martyrs. »

“I don’t think Kashmir is safe for artists to express themselves,” Mudasir Gull says.

Srinagar, May 20 (KMS): Mudasir Gull, an artist based in Jammu and Kashmir’s Srinagar, shot to instant fame last week after the visuals of a mural he had painted in support of Palestine went viral on social media.

For 27-year-old Gull, though, the jubilation didn’t last long. In Kashmir’s environment of shrinking freedom of speech, he became a fugitive in the eyes of the government and security forces.

On Friday, he was detained by the J&K Police and kept in illegal confinement for three days before being set free without any charges being filed. He spoke to The Wire about his ordeal, Kashmir’s Palestine connection and the difficulties of being an artist. »
