Srinagar, May 28 (KMS): In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Tehreek-e-Muzahamat and Jammu and Kashmir Political Resistance Movement have termed the continued illegal detention of Rashid Sehrai and Mujahid Sehrai, sons of martyred senior APHC leader Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai, as the worst example of colonial and wicked mindset.

According to Kashmir Media Service, the Tehreek-e-Muzahamat Chairman, Bilal Ahmed Siddiqui, in a statement issued in Srinagar deplored that both sons of Sehrai Sahab had contracted COVID-19 in jail due to inhuman behaviour of the occupation authorities.

Terming these acts of political vendetta highly immoral and condemnable, he said, the entire population of Kashmir salutes this brave family besides their iconic father.

Bilal Siddiqui appealed to the world human rights organisations to take cognizance of this attitude and use their mandate to persuade the Indian authorities to mend their autocratic attitude towards the family of Ashraf Sehrai.

The JKPRM General Secretary, Dr Musaib, in a statement in Srinagar demanded release of Ashraf Sehrai’s sons as both are infected with Covid-19. He deplored that in the absence of medical treatment, the political prisoners were feeling helpless and were in mental distress. It would be prudent to release all prisoners, keeping in view the alarming situation due to COVID-19, he added.

He said, even the Indian Supreme Court had ordered release of prisoners on parole or bail but the occupation authorities were not obeying its orders.

Asif Sultan remains in detention despite many court hearings

Srinagar, May 24 (KMS): In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, International award-winning incarcerated journalist Asif Sultan completed 1,000 days in prison, the other day.

In the almost three years that he has spent in prison, everything has changed at his home, but charges against him are yet to be dropped despite many court hearings.

Sultan was arrested in August 2018 after he filed a report on martyred youth leader, Burhan Wani, for a local magazine where he was working as an assistant editor.

A year later he was awarded the John Aubuchon press freedom award. He is currently lodged at Central Jail Srinagar, despite repeated calls for his release from human rights groups, international journalist bodies, and Kashmiri journalists.

Muhammad Sultan, the father of Asif, while talking to media said, “I had to go through a major heart surgery this year. Alhamdulillah, I am better now. His daughter, who was just 6 months at the time of his arrest, has begun to feel her father’s absence now. We are eagerly waiting for his release.”

Police have booked Asif under black law, Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) on the ridiculous charge of his involvement in militant activities. The charge was strongly denied by his family. Asif has a wife and a 3-year old daughter at home.

Srinagar, May 18 (KMS): In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Jammu and Kashmir Employees Movement (JKEM) and Jammu and Kashmir Insaf Party have condemned the ongoing cordon and search operations, killings and arrests of youth by Indian forces in the territory.

The JKEM and Insaf Party spokesmen in their statements issued in Srinagar urged world human rights bodies to take notice of the worst situation of Kashmir.

The JKEM spokesman said that these atrocities are being committed to suppress Kashmiri voice for freedom but the oppressors are forgetting the historical fact that freedom movements of nations never get suppressed by such kinds of tyrannies. He said that Kashmiris would never tolerate the killing spree.

The spokesman paid glowing tributes to the martyred youth, recently killed by the Indian troops in Srinagar and reiterated to continue the freedom struggle till its logical conclusion. He appealed to the international human rights organisations including the UN Human Rights Council, Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch and International Committee of Red Cross to take cognizance of the plight of the Kashmiri detainees and impress upon New Delhi to release them forthwith.

The Insaf Party spokesman paid rich tributes to Khawaja Abdul Ghani Lone, Mirwaiz Moulvi Muhammad Farooq, and martyrs of Hawal on their anniversaries saying that the sacred blood of great Kashmiri martyrs would not go waste.

The spokesman while condemning the use of brute force against the people of Kashmir said that the subjugated people of Kashmir have no option but to lead their freedom moment to its logical conclusion.
