New Delhi, August 25 (KMS): The illegally detained senior APHC leader and the Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party (DFP), Shabbir Ahmed Shah, has moved an application seeking to appear before the court through video-conference apprehending that he can be attacked by other inmates in the lock-up or jail van.

Shabbir Shah’s counsel, M S Khan, said in the application that during the transportation from Tihar Jail to Patiala House Courts Complex on Wednesday, the APHC leader was humiliated and threatened by the inmates. He said that some of them were conspiring to attack Shabbir Shah. He requested the court to direct the jail authorities to present the APHC leader through video-conferencing considering his fears. »

Srinagar, June 08 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the High Court has asked the authorities to consider shifting of pro-freedom leaders Masarrat Aalam and Aasiya Andrabi from Kot Balwal jail, Jammu, to a Kashmir jail.

The directive came after Masarrat Aalam’s counsel, Mian Tufail, told the court the lodging of a detainee away from his home goes against the judgment passed in the case of A K Roy. »

Srinagar, June 02 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the High Court has stayed a trial court’s proceedings in a case of custodial killing as the criminal Indian policemen involved in the murder of an innocent civilian have moved an application for transferring the case to Jammu.

The Principal District and Sessions Judge, Bandipora, had last month closed the arguments in the custodial killing of 21-year-old Zahoor Ahmad Sofi of Brar village on September 4, 2006 at a camp of Special Operations Group (SOG) of Indian police located at Kaloosa in Bandipora. »

Srinagar, May 15 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, in total disregard to human dignity and values, Indian army Major, who tied a Kashmiri man to the bonnet of a jeep as a human shield, has been given a clean chit by the so-called Court of Inquiry (CoI).

No action has been recommended against the Major. Court martial is out of the question. Not even disciplinary action was recommended against the officer, India Today reported. »
