Srinagar, July 14 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, testifying the apprehensions of the Kashmiris about their near and dear ones languishing in Indian jails of getting infected with coronavirus, Zahoor Ahmad Butt, the brother of prominent martyred Kashmiri leader, Muhammad Maqbool Butt, has tested positive for the novel coronavirus.

Zahoor Ahmad Butt who belongs to Trehgam, Kupwara, has been detained under the draconian Public Safety Act (PSA) since 2018. The relatives of other Kashmiri prisoners detained under PSA have raised questions about their safety as well.

Sheroz Ahmad, superintendent of Islamabad Jail, said a sample taken from Butt had been sent for COVID-19 testing on July 6, after he developed a mild fever and cough. “His report arrived on July 10, showing that he had tested positive for the virus. After this, we took samples of 350 persons, including 200 jail inmates, for COVID-19 testing,” Ahmad told the media. »

Srinagar, July 10 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, Indian police yet again summoned senior journalist and Editor of ‘Kashmir Walla’ news portal, Fahad Shah, today, in connection with the coverage of a cordon and search operation (CASO) in Srinagar in May, this year.

Fahad Shah, who is the founding Editor of ‘Kashmir Walla’ was summoned by police at a police station in connection with the stories that KashmirWalla published while covering the CASO in Nawakadal, Srinagar, on May 19, 2020. Indian troops had martyred Junaid Sehrai, noted mujahid commander and son of Hurriyat leader, Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai, along with his associate and destroyed at least 19 residential houses. »

Srinagar, July 10 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, news portal ‘The KashmirWalla’ today said that journalism is not a crime after its Editor, Fahad Shah, was questioned over the coverage of a cordon and search operation (CASO) in the Nawakadal area of Srinagar on May 19, this year.

Indian troops had martyred noted mujahid commander, Junaid Sehrai, along with his associate and destroyed at least 19 houses during the military operation in Nawakadal on May 19. The KashmirWalla had given extensive coverage to the military operation.

This was the second time Fahad Shah was questioned on the same matter. The newspaper condemned the fresh summons, maintaining that “journalism is not a crime”. »

New York, July 06 (KMS): An American lawmaker has promised to raise in the US Congress the plight of Kashmiri people still languishing under the Indian military lockdown in occupied Kashmir.

Congresswoman Yvette Clarke of New York said this while speaking as chief guest at an event organized by the Pakistani American Association in Brooklyn, New York, in connection with the US Independence Day.

She said she remained concerned over the human rights violations being committed in Kashmir and called for ending those atrocities. In her remarks, Congresswoman Clark, a Democrat, thanked Pakistani-Americans who she said had supported her in her election and promised to do everything possible for their welfare. »

A report released by the Research Section of Kashmir Media Service, today, said, the life of Kashmiris has been made a miserable by the Indian authorities since New Delhi illegally abrogated Article 370 of its constitution on August 5, 2019, to revoke the special status of Jammu and Kashmir. The move, it added, was aimed at snatching away the identity of the Kashmiris through changing the Muslim-majority status of the occupied territory into a minority. »

New Delhi, June 28 (KMS): Amnesty International while reacting sharply to the killing of a minor boy during a cordon and search operation by Indian troops in Islamabad district of occupied Kashmir has said that “The unlawful killing of the child shows utter contempt for human life and the fundamental principles of humanity.”

Avinash Kumar, Executive Director, Amnesty International India, in a statement in New Delhi said, “The authorities must investigate this incident and must bring the perpetrators to justice.”

“Killing of civilians can never be justified under any circumstances and is in violation of Article 3 of the four Geneva Conventions of 1949,” the statement added. »

Srinagar, June 28 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, a delegation of Tehreek-e-Wahdat-e-Islami visited the residence of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Chairman, Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai and discussed with him the present grim situation in the territory.
