Toronto, July 16 (KMS): Hundreds of Canadians from all walks of life paid rich tributes to the struggle of the long-oppressed Kashmiri people at a conference in Toronto on July 15.

Organized by the Friends of Kashmir Committee Canada, the conference paid tribute to Burhan Wani on the first anniversary of his martyrdom. The conference also recalled the first uprising of the Kashmiri people on July 13, 1931 against Dogra raj.

The wide array of speakers from different walks of Canadian life included Sid LaCombe of the Canadian Peace Alliance (CPA), Canadian broadcaster Phil Taylor of the Taylor Report, Dr Ali Mallah, former vice president of the Canadian Arab Federation, Ken Stone, a former academic and member of the Hamilton Coalition to Stop the War, and Lord Nazir Ahmed from England.

Mr. LaCombe pledged to put the Kashmir issue at the centre of Canadian politics. »

Srinagar, July 03 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, Indian troops in their fresh act of state terrorism martyred two more Kashmiri youth in Pulwama district, today. The youth identified as Kifayat and Jahangi were killed during violent crackdown operation in Bahmnoo area of the district on Monday.

A police spokesman claimed that Kifayat and Jahangir were militants who were killed during an exchange of fire, adding that two more youth are trapped inside the cordon. »

Srinagar, July 01 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, Indian troops, in their fresh act of state terrorism, martyred two more youth in Dialgam area of Islamabad district, raising the death toll to four, today.

The troops killed the youth Bashir Ahmed Wani and Azad Ahmed Malik during a violent cordon and search operation. The troops have also blasted a residential house in the area.

Earlier, a woman, Tahira Begum, and a youth, Shadab Ahmed, were killed and dozens others injured after the troops fired bullets, pellets and teargas shells on the demonstrators who were protesting against the operation. Eyewitness told mediamen that Tahira and Shahab were hit by bullets. The operation continued till reports last came in. Massive clashes between protesters and Indian forces’ personnel are going on in the area. »

Srinagar, July 01 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, two civilians including a woman have been killed and many others injured in the indiscriminate firing of Indian troops on peaceful protesters in Islamabad district.

People took to the streets, today, after Indian troops launched a violent cordon and search operation in Dialgam area of the district. The troops fired bullets, pellets and teargas shells on the demonstrators killing two civilians, Tariq Ahmed and Tahira Begum, and injuring many others. Eyewitness told mediamen that Tariq and Tahira were hit by bullets. Massive protests were going on in the area when reports last came in.

Locals said that the forces’ personnel used civilians as human shield during the operation. »
