Srinagar, May 21 (KMS): In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the occupation authorities intensified curfew and other restrictions, today, to prevent people from conducting a march towards Mazar-e-Shuhada at Eidgah in Srinagar and holding prayer meetings.

Call for the march and prayer meetings was given by the Chairman of Hurriyat forum, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, to pay tributes to prominent martyred Hurriyat leaders, Mirwaiz Molvi Muhammad Farooq and Khawaja Abdul Ghani Lone, as well as the martyrs of Hawal massacre on their martyrdom anniversaries.

The occupation authorities deployed Indian military, paramilitary and police personnel in strength in Srinagar and other cities and towns of the territory to restrict the movement of the people. Indian forces’ personnel did not allow media persons to visit the downtown area of Srinagar and report the ground situation. The authorities continued to keep Mirwaiz Umar Farooq under house arrest even on his father’s martyrdom anniversary. He has been under illegal and arbitrary house arrest since 05 August 2019. Juma prayers could not be held at historic Jamia Masjid, Dargah Hazratbal and other main mosques, dargahs and imambargahs in Srinagar and other areas of the occupied territory due to severe restrictions.

Meanwhile, the All Parties Harriet Conference Chief Spokesperson, Ghulam Muhammad Nagoo, in a statement issued in Srinagar condemned the fascist Modi-led Indian government for imposing strict curfew and restrictions to prevent people from offering homage to their martyred leaders and mourners who were killed ruthlessly by the Indian agencies and their mentors in uniform in 1990 and 2002 on this day. He said that such tactics would not deter the Kashmiri people from treading their chosen path of freedom.

Ghulam Muhammad Nagoo, and other Hurriyat leaders and organizations including Ghulam Muhammad Khan Sopori, Farida Bahenji, Jahangir Ghani Butt, Jammu and Kashmir Employee Movement, Tehreek-e-Wahdat-e-Islami, Umat-e-Islami and rights activist, Muhammad Ahsan Untoo in their statements and meetings said that the services and contribution of Mirwaiz Molvi Muhammad Farooq and Khawaja Abdul Ghani Lone for the Kashmir cause would continue to inspire the Kashmiri generations.

Indian troops continued their violent cordon and search operations in Srinagar, Badgam, Ganderbal, Sopore, Baramulla, Kupwara, Bandipore, Islamabad, Pulwama, Kulgam, Shopian, Rajouri, Poonch, Kishtwar, Ramban and Doda districts, subjecting the local residents to huge inconvenience.

On the other hand, the IIOJK authorities terminated two government teachers from Kupwara from their services for supporting the ongoing freedom movement. With this, the number of employees terminated on charges of being involved in anti-India activities has gone to six, which also include a Deputy Superintendent of Police.

Srinagar, April 27 (KMS): in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the Jammu and Kashmir Mass Movement (JMMM) has said that India has intensified restrictions on the pretext of coronavirus pandemic to kill and detain youth during cordon and search operations.

JKMM Information Secretary Shabbir Ahmed in a statement issued in Srinagar said that while the world is battling the coronavirus disease, the Indian occupational forces are killing youth falsely labeling them as militants during siege and search operations in Jammu and Kashmir.

He expressed concern over the continued detention of thousands of Kashmiris including minors in various jails in occupied Jammu and Kashmir and India and that instead of listening to the calls of international human rights organizations for the release of political prisoners, the Modi government is imprisoning dozens of people every day. He said that the lives of thousands of Kashmiris detained in jails were in danger due to coronavirus. Shabbir Ahmad urged the United Nations to play its role in resolving the Kashmir dispute as per its Security Council resolutions.

Meanwhile, chairman of the Jammu and Kashmir Islami Tanzeem-e-Azadi, Abdul Samad Inqilabi in a statement issued in Srinagar urged India and Pakistan to resolve the Kashmir dispute at the earliest opportunity, adding that the remaining issues would be resolved automatically. He also expressed condolences to Hurriyat leaders Mukhtar Ahmad Waza and Ghazi Manzoor over death of Waza’s sister and Manzoor’s wife.

Jammu and Kashmir Social Youth and Justice League in a statement said the political prisoners booked by India’s National Investigation Agency and Enforcement Directorate under frivolous cases are being denied trial and their detention is being prolonged on one or the other pretext. The statement urged the world bodies and human rights organizations to take serious note of the plight of Kashmiri prisoners. KMS—5K

Srinagar, January 25 (KMS): In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the entire Kashmir valley has been converted into a military garrison after curfew-like restrictions have been imposed in the name of security on the eve of India’s Republic Day, tomorrow.

People are forced to stop at check-posts, mushroomed in every nook and corner of the territory, and subjected to vigorous frisking and checking. Forces have been deployed in massive numbers around the venues of the January 26 functions across the Valley.

The presence of forces’ personnel around vital installations in and around Srinagar as well as other district headquarters has been enhanced. Security has also been strengthened around the venues for the Republic Day functions, including Kashmir Cricket Stadium, where the main function in the Valley would take place. The officials said a thick layer of security has been thrown around the venue – a few kilometres from the Lal Chowk city centre, Srinagar,– and the area has been sanitised.

Vijay Kumar, Inspector General of Police, Kashmir, expressed confidence that the day would pass off incident-free. “Three-layered security arrangements have been put in place. Drones are also being used. The areas are being dominated and frisking and checking of vehicles is being done ,” he said.

Srinagar, January 20 (KMS): In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, heavy deployment of Indian forces’ personnel has been made in Srinagar and other parts of the territory on the eve of shutdown, call for which has been given by the All Parties Hurriyat Conference to mark the 31st anniversary of Gaw Kadal massacre.

Over 50 people were killed and hundreds others were injured when Indian troops had opened fire on peaceful protesters in Gaw Kadal area of Srinagar on January 21 in 1990. The call for the strike has been supported by other Hurriyat groups and organizations including Jammu and Kashmir Democratic Freedom Party and Jammu and Kashmir Peoples League.

Curfew-like restrictions have been imposed in the name of security in the territory. Additional troops have been deployed on the routes to Srinagar and all other district headquarters in the Kashmir valley. All major roads and streets in Srinagar are particularly dotted by the presence of the personnel of Indian Army, police and paramilitary Central Reserve Police Force while armoured vehicles are seen patrolling the city to prevent anti-India protests, tomorrow.

The APHC spokesman in a statement issued in Srinagar while paying tributes to the victims of the massacre had said that Gaw Kadal and other such mass killings reminded the notorious Jalianwala carnage, perpetrated by the then British government in India.

Jammu, December 26 (KMS):  In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the authorities have once again extended the ban on high speed internet service till January 08, 2021.

An order issued by Principal Secretary Home Department of IIOJK, Shaleen Kabra, said that the high speed internet would remain suspended in the entire territory barring two districts of Ganderbal and Udhampur.

The 4G internet service remains suspended in IIOJK since 5th August, 2019 when Narendra Modi-led fascist Indian government repealed the special status of the territory and placed it under strict military siege.

The residents of the occupied territory continue to suffer immensely in the times of coronavirus pandemic due to continued blockade of high speed internet service. When the entire world is relying on the latest means of communications particularly internet to remain aware of the situation caused by the COVID-19, the people of IIOJK have been kept deprived of this basic facility for the past over 16 months.

Srinagar, September 09 (KMS): In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the authorities have extended the ban on 4G internet service in all but two districts till September 30.

As per an order issued in Srinagar by Shaleen Kabra, Principal Secretary to Home department of the occupied territory, the ban on 4G internet will remain in force in all districts of the territory except Ganderbal and Udhampur districts.

The authorities had ordered restoration of high speed mobile data services in Ganderbal and Udhampur on trial basis in pursuance of the recommendations by the Special Committee in its meeting dated August 10 for considering calibrated casing of restrictions in limited and “comparatively less sensitive geographical areas”. However, in the rest of the districts, the speed was directed to continue to be restricted to 2G only.

As per the fresh order issued by Shaleen Kabra, the directions were reviewed by the Review Committee on August 21 and September 01.

“The Committee, while taking note of the assessment made by the law enforcement agencies that no reports of misuse of high speed internet services in the districts of Ganderbal and Udhampur had been reported, observed that the situation needed to be monitored closely,” the order said.

However, the order claimed that the law enforcement agencies have indicated potential of misuse of high speed data services in disturbing public order.

Shaleen Kabra said in the order that directions regarding the speed of the internet shall continue to remain in force till 30lh September, 2020, unless modified earlier.

Srinagar, August 15 (KMS): In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the authorities continue to impose strict restrictions across the territory to prevent people from holding anti-India demonstrations on Indian Independence Day, today.

The authorities have converted the Kashmir Valley, particularly Srinagar, into a military garrison by deploying Indian troops and police personnel in every nook and corner.

In Srinagar, thousands of troops and policemen are patrolling the deserted streets, lanes and by lanes to thwart any attempt of people to stage anti-India demonstrations. A cricket Stadium in Sonawar area of Srinagar, the venue of main function of Indian Independence Day, has virtually been turned into a fortress. No vehicular movement is being allowed near the stadium while sharp-shooters have been deployed on high-rise building around the venue.

Scores of mobile bunkers have been set up in Srinagar where people are being subjected to frisking and identification checks. The movement of people is also being constantly monitored through the close circuit cameras (CCTVs) installed at various places in the city. Sniffer dogs and bomb disposal squad have also been pressed into service. Aerial surveillance is also being maintained with the help of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).

Reports of heightened security have also been received from other parts of the territory. The so-called security has also been beefed along the Srinagar-Jammu highway.

The authorities have snapped the low speed internet service in the occupied territory while high speed 4G internet already remains suspended since August 05, last year, when Narendra Modi-led fascist Indian government had revoked the special status of the IIOJK.

Meanwhile, the people of the occupied territory are observing complete shutdown, today, to give message to India and the world that they reject India’s illegal occupation of their homeland. Call for strike has been given by the veteran Hurriyat leader, Syed Ali Gilani, the All Parties Hurriyat Conference, the Mirwaiz Umar Farooq-led Hurriyat forum and supported by almost all Hurriyat leaders and organizations.
