Srinagar, April 18 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, complete shutdown is being observed in poll-bound areas of Central Kashmir, today, to protest against the holding of so-called Indian Parliamentary elections.

Call for the shutdown has been given by the Joint Resistance Leadership. All shops and business establishments are closed while traffic is off the road in all the three poll-bound districts of Srinagar, Badgam and Ganderbal in Central Kashmir where polling is being held in the second phase of Lok Sabha elections. »

Jammu, April 13 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, complete shutdown was observed in Bhaderwah area of Doda district, today, to remember the victims of a massacre by Indian troops in 1990.

Three civilians were killed and dozens others injured on this day in 1990 in the indiscriminate firing on peaceful protesters by the troops at Seri Bazaar in Bhaderwah.

All shops and other businesses establishments remained closed to mourn the killing of the civilians.

President of Anjuman Islamia, Bhaderwah, Pervez Ahmed Sheikh, who had called for shutdown, said that today’s shutdown was observed to remember the martyrs of 1990. »

Srinagar, April 11 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, the normal life remains crippled, today, due to complete shutdown against the holding of so-called Indian parliamentary elections in the territory and brutal measures against the Kashmiri people and their leadership.

Call for the shutdown has been given by the Joint Resistance Leadership comprising Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Muhammad Yasin Malik. It is also aimed at registering protest against the victimization and harassment of Hurriyat leaders and their kin by India’s infamous National Investigation Agency (NIA), the closure of Kashmir’s main highway for civilians for two days in a week and attack by Indian police and troops on inmates at Srinagar Central Jail. »

Srinagar, March 28 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, protest strikes were held for 36 days in Tral town against the unabated Indian state terrorism since the beginning of the current year.

These strikes were observed to mourn the killings of youth and protest against the arrest spree.

At least seven youth were martyred by Indian troops in Tral town in the first three months of the current year in three different cordon and search operations conducted at Gulshanpora, Reshipora and Pinglish areas of the town. »

Authorities suspend train, mobile internet services

Srinagar, March 20 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, complete shutdown is being observed, today, against the custodial killing of a 28-year-old scholar and Jamaat-e-Islami activist, Rizwan Asad.

Call for shutdown has been given by the Joint Resistance Leadership and supported by the trader bodies and High Court Bar Association of the territory. All shops and other business establishments are shut in Srinagar and other areas of the valley while public transport is off the road.

Heavy deployment of Indian paramilitary and police personnel has been made in Srinagar and other parts of the territory and restrictions have been enforced on the movement of people to prevent anti-India protests. »

Srinagar, March 19 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, spontaneous shutdown was observed in Srinagar, Awantipora and other areas of the territory, today, against the murder of a school principal during custody in India’s National Investigation Agency.

The youth identified as Rizwan Asad, a resident of Awantipora area of Pulwama district and an activist of Jamaat-e-Islami of occupied Kashmir, was tortured to death in NIA custody in Srinagar during the intervening night on Monday and Tuesday. »

Srinagar, March 13 (KMS): In occupied Kashmir, complete shutdown is being observed in Tral area of south Kashmir on the third consecutive day, today, against the killing of three youth by Indian troops on Sunday.

All the shops and other business establishments are closed and traffic is off the roads in the area.

The youth were martyred by Indian troops during a cordon and search operation in Pinglish area of Tral on Sunday.

Call for the strike was given by the Srinagar-based Traders Coordination Committee, an amalgam of various trade bodies and was supported by Beopar Mandal Mahrajgunj and Jamia Market, Srinagar. All shops and business establishments are closed while traffic is off the road in downtown Srinagar. »
