More dying due to suicides, fratricides and other factors

New Delhi, January 08 (KMS): A leading Indian military think tank has disclosed that every year, the Indian Army loses its personnel to suicides, fratricides and untoward incidents and in the past two decades, there has been a significant increase in the stress levels of the troops.

The think tank, United Services Institution (USI), in its findings says, “At present, more than half of the Army seems to be under severe stress…. this is due to operational and non-operational reasons.” »

Over 60 civilians were martyred and more than 350 shops and other structures including residential houses were gutted on this day in 1993 after Indian soldiers set the town ablaze. »

ImageIslamabad, January 07 (KMS): The Malaysian Consultative Council of Islamic Organizations (MAPIM) has called for the United Nations’ immediate intervention against India’s impunity on Kashmir’s freedom and human rights activists to ensure their protection, particularly illegally detained Hurriyat leader, Aasiya Andrabi.

The MAPIM President, Muhammad Azmi Abdul Hanid in a statement demanded dropping of concocted charges against Aasiya Andrabi and her unconditional release.

“India must end all persecutions on Kashmir political dissenters and human rights activists and those apprehended without charge must be released,” Azmi said. »

Islamabad, January 06 (KMS): Member of International Alliance for the Defence of Rights and Freedoms, Andy Vermaut, has termed the detention of Kashmiri Hurriyat leader, Aasiya Andrabi, in Indian Jail as ‘illegal & inhuman’ as the arrest was made under false charges and draconian laws.

In a video message, he asked the Indian government to immediately release Aasiya Andrabi and withdraw all the fabricated charges against her, Radio Pakistan reported. He added that she must be provided full legal protection. »

London, January 06 (KMS): Kashmiri leaders, Barrister Abdul Majeed Tramboo and Professor Nazir Ahmed Shawl, have urged the UN to implement its resolutions on Jammu and Kashmir.

Barrister Abdul Majeed Tramboo and Professor Nazir Ahmed Shawl in a statement issued from London said that the deteriorating situation in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir asked for an international initiative on Kashmir. They maintained that the UN needed to launch its preventive diplomacy to bring to an end the massive human rights violations by Indian troops in IIOJK as the Kashmiris’ demand was the exercise of their right to self-determination. »

Islamabad, January 06 (KMS): The Convener of AJK chapter of Mirwaiz Umar Farooq-led Hurriyat forum, Syed Faiz Naqashbandi, has said that India with all its government machinery is suppressing the people of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

Syed Faiz Naqashbandi in a statement issued in Islamabad said, Indian troops enjoying impunity under black laws are framing innocent Kashmiri people in false cases, torturing and murdering them in fake encounters. This situation has resulted in surge in human rights abuses in IIOJK, he said. »

Jammu, January 06 (KMS): In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, the Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Movement (JKPM) has demanded of the authorities to hand over the bodies of three youth killed by Indian troops in a fake encounter in Srinagar recently.

The JKPM Chairman, Mir Shahid Saleem, demanded a thorough probe into the staged-encounter. He said as per the locals and the police there was no evidence of involvement of the youth in any subversive activity. He deplored that the killing of innocent people in fake encounters by the troops has become a norm in the occupied territory. »

Jeddah, January 06 (KMS): The Independent Permanent Human Rights Commission (IPHRC) of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has strongly condemned the illegal detention of Kashmiri Hurriyat leader, Aasiya Andrabi, and her two associates in an Indian jail.

The IPHRC in a statement issued in Jeddah said that the charges, based on India’s controversial Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), against Aasiya Andrabi and her associates, Fehmeeda Sofi and Naheeda Nasreen, were concocted and baseless.

The statement said, according to media reports, Andrabi and her associates, like other political prisoners in IIOJK, are being held without access to a free and fair trial and are subjected to physical and psychological torture and denied critical medical care, endangering their lives in contravention of international human rights and humanitarian laws. »

Srinagar January 04 (KMS): Kashmiris on both sides of the Line of Control and the world over will observe the Right to Self-Determination Day, tomorrow, with the pledge to continue their liberation struggle till it reaches its ultimate goal.

It was on 5th January in 1949 when the United Nations Security Council passed a resolution supporting the Kashmiris’ right to decide their future by themselves through UN-sponsored plebiscite.

The day will be marked by various activities including rallies, seminars and conferences across the world to remind the UN that it must implement its relevant resolutions to settle the Kashmir dispute to save the Kashmiris from the Indian brutalities.
